Particularly, we will be paying attention to Venture's  ROE today.   </p><p> Return on equity or ROE is a key measure used to assess how efficiently a company's management is utilizing the company's capital.  In other words, it is a profitability ratio which measures the rate of return on the capital provided by the company's shareholders. </p><p><span> Check out our latest analysis for Venture </span></p><h2> How To Calculate Return On Equity? </h2><p> The <strong>formula for return on equity</strong> is: </p><p> Return on Equity = Net Profit (from continuing operations) ÷ Shareholders' Equity </p><p>So, based on the above formula, the ROE for Venture is:</p><p>9.5% = S$271m ÷ S$2.8b (Based on the trailing twelve months to December 2023).</p><p> The 'return' is the profit over the last twelve months. Generally speaking, other things being equal, firms with a high return on equity and profit retention, have a higher growth rate than firms that don’t share these attributes. </p><h2> A Side By Side comparison of Venture's Earnings Growth And 9.5% ROE </h2><p> At first glance, Venture's ROE doesn't look very promising.   However, given that the company's ROE is similar to the average industry ROE of 11%, we may spare it some thought.   Having said that, Venture's five year net income decline rate was 2.5%.  Remember, the company's ROE is a bit low to begin with.
