IBM (NYSE:IBM) to acquire HashiCorp for $6.4B amidst AI demand surge
International Business Machines (NYSE:IBM) announced on Wednesday its plans to acquire HashiCorp (NASDAQ:HCP), a leader in cloud-based software, for $6.4 billion.
This strategic move aims to expand IBM's capabilities in cloud software, capitalizing on the current boom in AI-driven demand.
The acquisition, priced at $35 per share, represents a 42.6% premium over HashiCorp's closing price on Monday.
HashiCorp's stock had already seen a significant uptick on Tuesday following media speculation about the deal.
IBM intends to finance the acquisition using available cash and expects the deal to positively impact its adjusted core profits within the first year after completion, anticipated by the end of 2024.
