Elon Musk and Tesla Stock

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, has had a significant impact on the company's stock price. His tweets and announcements have often moved the stock, sometimes significantly. For example, in April 2024, Tesla stock surged 15% after Musk announced the release of a new vehicle model and visited China to address FSD obstacles.

However, Musk's actions have also been controversial. Some investors believe that he is too focused on making promises that he cannot keep, such as his claims about the capabilities of Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology. This has led to concerns about the company's long-term prospects and has contributed to the recent decline in Tesla's stock price.

Chevron as a Better Investment than Tesla

Despite Tesla's recent struggles, I believe, ironically, that Chevron is a better investment in the coming years. Chevron is a well-established oil and gas company with a strong track record of profitability. It is also less reliant on a single individual than Tesla is on Elon Musk.

In addition, Chevron is benefiting from the current high oil prices. This is likely to continue in the near term, as the war in Ukraine and sanctions on Russia have disrupted global energy supplies.

Overall, Elon Musk's impact on Tesla stock has been mixed. While he has been able to generate excitement and enthusiasm for the company, his actions have also raised concerns about its long-term prospects. To me, Elon Musk is definitely good at painting pies in the sky, making grand promises that haven't materialized. This, combined with Tesla's declining margins and reliance on unsustainable income sources, raises doubts about the company's ability to compete effectively in the long run. Chevron, on the other hand, is a more traditional company with a strong track record and is benefiting from the current high oil prices. As a result, Chevron may be a better investment than Tesla in the coming years.
