Will they return to their heydays?

Many eyes will be on $Sea Ltd(SE)$  when it publishes its latest quarterly earnings results on 14 May. Stock prices of Sea, $PDD Holdings Inc(PDD)$ $Alibaba(BABA)$ $JD.com(JD)$  and $MEITUAN-W(03690)$   have been buoyant by prospects of potential forced divestiture of TikTok by its parent Bytedance under a bill that has been passed by the US government compelling the divestiture or otherwise the popular social media will be banned in the US. TikTok has been increasingly perceived by many in the e-commerce business as a rising formidable competitor given its enormous clout among young social media users. I look forward to encouraging earnings results by Sea, which is among the largest e-commerce and e-gaming platforms in Southeast Asia, and hopefully its e-commerce peers will join the chorus as they cheer the recovery of e-commerce business.

Positive signs of the Chinese trade recovery are also spurring rebound of these tech stocks that have been badly beaten down by past crackdowns on its technology sector, after initial rushes to riches triggered by onset of the COVID pandemic that has restricted many to rely on e-commerce for supply of their daily necessaries. The Chinese tech stocks can finally heave a sigh of relief with lights at the end of the tunnel with signals of the end of the regulatory crackdown and return of accommodative measures to boost the economy and renew growth.
