Better nodes are a sine qua non for better products

But I think Intel's problem is not that Pat prioritized 5N4Y; it's issue is the huge IFS capex program that they didn't have the resources for

It should have been more calibrated, more deliberate; plenty of analysts and investors offered that cautionary feedback but Intel (Pat?) was quite stubborn and set; and lost a lot of investor support (he is now frustrated and says he wants only long term shareholders 🙄 )

Because of all the capital needed for the new fabs, they cut the dividend and lost a section of their legacy shareholder base, and they are now having to sell pieces of the fabs to private equity

All that was unnecessary; getting the nodes on track was absolutely necessary
