@nerdbull1669
$Walt Disney(DIS)$ is scheduled to release the fiscal third-quarter 2024 results on 07 August before market open. Its revenues have been estimated to be at $22.86 billion, this will be a small growth of 2.4% from the year-ago quarter’s reported figure. Earnings per share have been estimated to be $1.20 which will be a growth of 16.5% year over year. Dominance In Box Office - Key To A Possible Earnings Surprise Disney is maintaining its dominance at the multiplex, as its strategy to lean even more into sequels and franchises is so far paying off. Pixar's "Inside Out 2" and Marvel's "Deadpool & Wolverine" are the highest and second-highest grossing films worldwide so far in 2024 and we can look forward to two more hits -- "Moana 2" and "Mufasa," a prequel to "The Lion King" - in the back half of the year. Morgan Stanley analysts has say in their research note that investors should have renewed confidence in Disney's brand and IP - along with the talents of its creative teams, Another area of business would be the theme park, if we looked the top theme park by attendance in the next section. Disney Theme Park Occupy 7 Out Of Top 10 2024 Theme Park By Attendance If we looked at the Top 10 theme park by attendance globally, we can see that Disney has occupied 7 out of 10 spots. This would mean that the attraction demand post pandemic have been growing, and this should show in the upcoming quarterly report. Walt Disney (DIS) Price Target Forecast Based on 26 Wall Street analysts offering 12 month price targets for Walt Disney in the last 3 months. The average price target is $126.64 with a high forecast of $145.00 and a low forecast of $100.00. The average price target represents a 44.27% change from the last price of $87.78. Walt Disney (DIS) Year-To-Date Returns To Investors There is a concern that investors might be taking note, it is the negative return for DIS share price year-to-date. This is despite Disney have a quite impressive previous quarter result, so what Disney need to show investors would be the confidence that their box offices and theme park revenue could give confidence. Technical (MACD and KDJ) - Worrying Downside Showing From the technical, market is not showing the support for Disney despite the dominance of box offices and also their theme park attendance have been growing. MACD and KDJ have both show that Disney have the potential of trading in a downside trend, so I would exercise caution and continue to monitor the price action for Disney. We need to see if Disney can show some strength in 06 August 2024 trading. Summary I would think Disney dominance in box offices could be key to show their revenue contributor leading, but I would also expect the revenue from their theme park business could also contribute. There is still some lingering effect of the sell off, though we are seeing some rebound in some stocks. Disney might not be so fast as part of consumer discretionary sector. Appreciate if you could share your thoughts in the comment section whether you think Disney could show some strength in their share price before the earnings tomorrow (07 August). @TigerStars @Daily_Discussion @Tiger_Earnings @TigerWire appreciate if you could feature this article so that fellow tiger would benefit from my investing and trading thoughts.
