Strike Energy (ASX:STX) granted production licence for West Erregulla gas field
Strike Energy has been granted production licence L25 for the West Erregulla gas field by the Department of Energy, Mines, Industry, Regulation and Safety.
The licence marks a significant milestone for the EP469 joint venture, in which Strike holds a 50% working interest and is the operator.
The West Erregulla gas field, located in the North Perth Basin, holds an independently estimated gross of 452 PJ of 2P reserves plus 2C and contingent resources.
The project has been under development since 2019 and is moving towards a final investment decision later this year.
The gas development will feature an 87 TJ/d nameplate capacity, with the Australian Gas Infrastructure Group providing midstream services.
Strike's Managing Director and CEO Stuart Nicholls said, "Receiving production licence L25 further de-risks the path for the development of the West Erregulla gas field. West Erregulla, Strike's flagship asset, will be a timely and major source of new gas in WA, which will produce well into the 2040s."
Strike and its joint venture partner, Warrego Energy 469, are advancing their plans with environmental approvals in place for both upstream and midstream developments.
The companies aim to secure all necessary agreements to facilitate the commencement of the project.
