ETFs hold about 13% of the US equity assets

Listen up, folks. This is a very important data point and development.

The ETF market has been instrumental to the success of the US equities markets. They hold about 13% of the US equity assets - the largest share of any mature market. Passive ETFs have a huge impact on the demand for shares of the largest listed firms (i.e. Mag 7).

Even at RMB 3 trillion ($428B), ETFs account for just 3% to 4% of China's total equity assets. As this penetration grows, so will mainland investors' ability to partake more effectively in the growth and success of the domestic market.
