The year 2024 has marked a transformative period for my growth portfolio, highlighting the importance of selecting winners within rapidly evolving growth themes. This year, IT investments have heavily favored foundational AI elements like chips, servers, and computing power, setting the stage for the next wave of technological advances. Although this focus has boosted hardware-centric stocks, the anticipated surge in AI software has been slower to unfold. Nonetheless, this is just the prelude to a significant uptick in business software investment, especially in AI applications -- which I believe will soon take center stage in the market.
As we navigate the latter part of the year, I'm bracing for short-term market fluctuations triggered by the upcoming elections. Despite this, I remain bullish about the market's prospects post-election, anticipating a 'blow-off-top' type of rally in November and December that could propel us to new all-time highs. To prepare, I've built an 8% cash position to take advantage of potential dips -- allowing me to invest in high-conviction stocks poised to benefit from the surge in sophisticated AI applications.
