I believe the value is not the matter in question but the experience and the value they are able to learn and apply in their life.

I have 2 kids and I am constantly trying to teach them the life around them and not just push them to excel in studies.

Knowledge is important but handy skills, social skills, etc are equally as important. With the current age where money can solve all problems - we fail to realise making the money or even saving the money is a much more important education we need to bestow into our children.

Every month my kids are saving from the additional task I give them to earn by helping around the house. And I set a side a small portion into their savings so that it will aid them in the future.

Teaching them to earn and also allowing them to decide if they wish to spend them money on toys or food or even an experience - allows them to understand the importance of saving up and not spending blindly.
