$Tesla Motors(TSLA)$
If one is leveraged on the short and in over their head, one really bad short can indeed destroy one financially. Even though I'm a Tesla bull. I still limit Tesla to about 5% of my portfolio [now 6%], because I don't want that much concentrated in a volatile stock.
Fortunes can come and go on either side of the trade so if one thinks "It takes a really smart person to successfully short." and somehow gets that twisted into "I shorted, so I must be really smart.", the market often has a penchant for teaching humility.
