As the curtains close on 2024, it’s time to set our sights on new opportunities in 2025. This year has been marked by bullish momentum, with the S&P 500 up 23.84% and the Nasdaq soaring 29.81%. Amid this vibrant market, my personal goal for 2025 is clear: achieve a consistent 1% weekly return through strategic options trading.
Harnessing Options for Weekly Gains
One of my primary strategies will involve buying shares of strong-performing stocks like Palantir Technologies (PLTR). For instance, I plan to purchase PLTR shares at $76.50 and immediately sell an in-the-money (ITM) call option with a strike price of $75. This approach would net me a premium of $2.20, effectively providing a $0.70 profit per share after factoring in the intrinsic loss. This equates to approximately 1% weekly—a steady and reliable return.
This strategy not only aligns with my risk tolerance but also ensures consistent cash flow. Selling ITM calls offers downside protection by lowering my breakeven price while simultaneously capitalizing on premium collection.
Buffering with Out-of-the-Money Calls
If I find myself with more profits or if the stock is at a strong support level, I might pivot slightly by selling out-of-the-money (OTM) calls. This tactic would allow me to capture additional premium while retaining some upside potential if the stock rallies. It’s a flexible approach that works well when the market presents favorable conditions.
