Both ticker are under Sumitomo Corporation a major Japanese trading company.
      SSUMF: Common shares traded OTC.
SSUMY: ADR shares traded on U.S. markets.

If you're a U.S. investor SSUMY (ADR) might be more convenient due to better liquidity and accessibility. Always check fees, taxes, and trading costs associated with each type of share before investing.

The tickers SSUMF and SMFG both refer to Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group (SMFG) one of Japan's largest financial institutions. However, they represent different types of shares traded on different markets:

SSUMF: As mentioned OTC (Over-the-Counter) ticker for Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group. It trades on the U.S. OTC

      On the other hand.

      SMFG
This is the primary ticker for Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group on the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE)
      - It represents the company's ordinary shares traded in Japan.
      - SMFG is the main listing and typically has higher liquidity and trading volume compared to SSUMF.
