šŸŽ‰CBA Trader Interview: Retire by 50? Sandra’s Investment Journey Toward Financial Freedom

Hello Tigers,

In this article, allow us to introduce  @Kitty11, a cash boost account trader, and her in-depth investment journey. We hope her story and experiences can resonate with you.

1. Personal Information Q&A

  • What’s your name, career, and how long have you been involved in investing?
My name is Sandra, and I’m a technopreneur with a strong background in business and innovation. I’ve been actively involved in investing for around 20 years, constantly exploring ways to grow wealth through the markets.

  • What’s your investing background? (Motivation, experience & knowledge accumulation)
I’ve always been curious about how money works and how to grow it beyond a regular income. The idea of passive income really appealed to me, so I started learning how to read technical charts and experimented with different strategies over time. It became a personal mission—to refine my approach and hopefully retire by 50, powered by smart investing decisions.

  • How frequently do you trade, and why?
I monitor the market daily to stay informed and alert to opportunities, but I generally execute trades on a weekly basis. This rhythm gives me a good balance between staying hands-on and avoiding overtrading. Regular observation helps me catch trends early and stay disciplined.

  • What industries or sectors do you trade most, and why?
I primarily trade in tech stocks ( $Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund(XLE)$ )because they tend to be dynamic and offer strong upside potential, especially in the short-to-mid term. For long-term investments, I favor Singapore bank stocks ( $ocbc bank(O39.SI)$ $UOB(U11.SI)$ $DBS(D05.SI)$ ), as they have historically been stable and provide solid dividend payouts, which support my passive income goal.

  • Are there any unforgettable moments or profound experiences in your investing journey?
Absolutely. One of the most unforgettable periods was during Trump’s first presidential term—the market was incredibly unpredictable, but I managed to take advantage of that volatility. A standout moment was how much I gained from Tesla stock during that period. It was a powerful reminder of both risk and reward in fast-moving markets.

  • Could you share your most successful or profitable trade?
That would have to be $Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ or $Advanced Micro Devices(AMD)$ . I entered at the right time, held with conviction, and saw impressive returns. These trades reaffirmed the importance of timing, research, and not letting short-term noise shake you out of a good position.

2. Trading Style & Strategy

  • How did you train yourself to become successful in trading?
I’m a self-driven learner. I started with online resources, took a few structured trading courses, and most importantly, I learned through discussions and experiences shared by friends who were already in the market. This mix of self-study and peer insights helped shape my current strategy.

  • Do you do swing trading? Any tips for Tiger community members?
Yes, I do swing trade occasionally, especially with tech or crypto stocks that are in the news but backed by strong fundamentals. My tip: don’t just follow the hype—make sure the company has solid long-term potential, even if you’re only holding it for the short term.

  • Do you believe your trading strategy can be replicated to improve win rates? Why?
Yes, I believe so. My approach is quite straightforward and replicable, I focus on well-known, fundamentally strong companies, not risky penny stocks. This helps reduce unnecessary volatility and keeps the strategy grounded.

  • What valuation metrics do you look at before making a trade?
I usually start by reviewing the Profit & Loss (P/L) statements to understand how the company is performing financially. It gives me a basic but crucial sense of whether the business is stable enough to invest in.

  • What’s been your best year or most impressive return so far?
I’d say this year has been my best so far. The initial dip caused by tariffs gave me the chance to enter strong positions at attractive prices—and those trades have turned out really well. It’s been a great example of buying the dip and staying patient.

3. Concluding Thoughts

  • What made you open a CBA (Cash Boost Account)?
The biggest reason was the ability to trade quickly without needing to top up the account every time. It makes the whole trading process faster and more convenient, especially when reacting to market moves.

  • Are there any industries or sectors you feel will be bullish in the second half of 2025?
I remain optimistic about chip companies, crypto-related firms, and tech stocks. These sectors continue to drive innovation and tend to rebound strongly after market corrections.

  • Any tips or advice you'd like to share with other traders on the Tiger App?
Don’t go all in. Instead, build your positions gradually and observe the market patiently. Discipline and timing are key in trading.

  • What do you think of the Tiger App and the Cash Boost Account?
I think the Tiger App is great—the interface is clean and easy to navigate. I also really appreciate the quick cash-out feature in the Cash Boost Account, which adds a lot of flexibility.

  • Do you have any feedback or suggestions for Tiger Trade?
Yes—I’d love to see a feature that allows for direct currency conversion if there's already cash in the account. That would make trading even smoother.
