A Budget-Friendly Catch-up
Today, my friend and I decided to meet up for a casual lunch. We were looking for something quick, comforting, and most importantly, affordable and Sukiya absolutely hit the brief as we ended up at Sukiya. After finishing our meals, we ran into one of his subordinates, who is also my indirect supervisor. He greeted us warmly along with his family members. I felt a little embarrassed because I usually keep a low profile, and it would have been difficult to explain why I was spending time with my friend on a weekend. So I just smiled, returned the greeting, and carried on with the conversation as if nothing was unusual. He also didn’t bring up the matter.I realized I was being quite thick-skinned, even though I couldn’t really hide my shyness.
Back To The Meal
We sat down in one of their cozy wooden booths. I ordered a classic, hearty rice bowl set.
We love eating here because you get an entire tray of delicious food without breaking the bank. The meal came perfectly assembled:
A steaming hot rice bowl topped with a savory, glossy minced meat sauce, seaweed, and a generous sprinkle of fresh green onions.
A side of warm, comforting miso soup.
A small dish of refreshing pickled vegetables to cleanse the palate.
An iced tea to wash it all down.
The close-up shows just how flavorful the main dish was. The sauce had the perfect balance of savory and sweet, coating the rice beautifully.
Good Food, Better Company
There’s something so satisfying about finding a spot where the food is consistently nice, the service is fast, and the bill doesn't break the bank. It allowed us to just relax, enjoy our lunch, and spend our time focusing on what really mattered—catching up and sharing a good laugh.
