iX Biopharma achieved a major medical and commercial breakthrough with Wafermine, its patented sublingual (under-the-tongue) ketamine wafer for non-opioid acute pain management.

WaferiXFast Absorption: Wafers dissolve sublingually in minutes, letting active ingredients enter the bloodstream directly and bypass the gut.

High Bioavailability: Provides a needle-free, predictable alternative to intravenous  infusions or standard oral pills.

--Key Pipeline & Commercial Milestones--

Backed by a US$40.95 million contract from the US Department of Defense awarded in February 2026, the company is advancing Wafermine through Phase 3 clinical trials for battlefield and acute hospital use.

1). Wafermine Phase 3: Moving into capital-intensive Phase 3 trials targeting the booming non-opioid pain market, with potential Emergency Use Authorisation (EUA) for the U.S. military. 

2). U.S. Commercial Base: Formed a joint venture with Orion Specialty Labs to leverage FDA-licensed compounding networks for rapid market access.

 3). Nutraceutical Expansion: Introduced fast-dissolving wellness wafers containing Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide (NAD+) and glutathione under the MeltMed brand.
