Citi Trends (NASDAQ:CTRN) reported second-quarter 2026 sales of $211.6 million, up 10.9% from the prior-year period, driven by higher comparable store sales, transaction count, and average basket size.
Comparable store sales increased 10.5% year over year, while gross margin improved to 40.6% from 40.0% due to higher merchandise margins and investments to reduce inventory shrink.
The company reported SG&A expenses of $82.3 million, or $80.4 million on an adjusted basis, representing 38% of sales compared with 40.6% in Q2 2025, while adjusted EBITDA increased by $6.6 million to $5.5 million.
Citi Trends reported a net loss of $0.9 million, compared with net income of $3.8 million in Q2 2025, which included an $11 million gain from the sale of its Savannah office building, while adjusted net income was $0.4 million.
The company opened four stores, closed one location, remodeled 26 stores during the quarter, and ended the period with 594 locations and inventory of $126.4 million, up 7.5% year over year.
Citi Trends ended the quarter with $55.9 million in cash, no debt, and no borrowings under its $75 million credit facility as it continues operating its off-price apparel and home merchandise business.
