$Applied Optoelectronics(AAOI)$  keeps scaling up its optical transceiver operations in Houston and the surrounding area. By early next year, their manufacturing footprint in Texas is expected to be more than eight times what it was a year ago — around 1.5 million square feet versus roughly 200,000 square feet, if my memory is right. The company also runs a laser fab in the same city.

Funding for this expansion has already exceeded $1.1 billion, and another $600 million ATM was initiated earlier this month. That brings the total raised for this buildout to nearly $1.8 billion since the prior year. Capital spending came in above $500 million for the first half, with a comparable pace likely for the second half of this year.
