$Advanced Micro Devices(AMD)$
Back in April 2018, I bought AMD at around $12 a share, putting almost my entire 401(k) into it. The stock pulled back a little, and I sold everything.
Why? Because for years before that, AMD had traded between roughly $3 and $10 for a very long stretch. I believed it was a solid company, which is exactly why I bought it. But that long history of staying in the $3 to $10 range made me uneasy. So at the first sign of weakness, I got out.
Those shares would be worth more than 200 times what I paid today. I could have been a multimillionaire. Honestly, I feel like a complete fool.
If there's a lesson here, it's to trust your own research and conviction instead of panicking at the first dip. The market can do things that seemed almost impossible based on the past. A stock can go from $3 to hundreds of dollars in just eight years.
Don't let a temporary drop scare you out of a company you genuinely believe in.
