ใ09.21โ09.27ใ๐ Weekly Review | AMD, MU and INTC Crowd the Profit Top 5 as AI Hardware Takes the Lead
US Treasury yields continued to climb, while oil prices and geopolitical risks kept markets on edge. The S&P 500 remained near record highs, but only three sectors had posted gains so far in September, while the equal-weighted S&P 500 was down around 4%.
The index held up, but the pool of winners was getting narrower.
The same pattern showed up on last weekโs Trade to Win leaderboard:
AMD, MU, INTC, QCOM, MRVL, STX... AI, semiconductor and computing hardware names repeatedly appeared in the Profit Top 5 of leading Prestige traders.
As the market became more selective, the sources of profit across the leaderboard started to look increasingly similar.
Quick recap of last week's rankings:

Top Trader Breakdown | Jason66
Trade Performance
-
Jason66 ranked No.2 on the Prestige leaderboard last week, with a 28.72% time-weighted return and a 3.44% maximum drawdown.
-
His Profit Top 5 had a clear theme: AMD, MU, STX, QCOM and INTC. All five sit along the same broad value chain, spanning chips, storage, connectivity and computing โ with AI and computing hardware at the centre. $Advanced Micro Devices(AMD)$ $Micron Technology(MU)$ $Seagate Technology PLC(STX)$ $Qualcomm(QCOM)$ $Intel(INTC)$
Trade Breakdown
-
Profits were not concentrated in a single leader.
AMD was the most prominent name, but MU, STX, QCOM and INTC also contributed to profits. With exposure across chips, storage, connectivity and computing, Jason66 benefited from strength across several parts of the AI hardware chain rather than relying on one stock alone.
-
Jason66 captured strength across the broader value chain.
On 21 Sep, AMD, Intel and Qualcomm all posted strong gains, while the semiconductor sector moved higher as a whole. His Profit Top 5 happened to cover several of the strongest areas within that move.
-
As the market narrowed, this concentration became more noticeable.
Market breadth weakened through September, while inflows into technology started to recover. Jason66โs profit mix reflected the same pattern, with gains concentrated in AI and computing hardware rather than spread evenly across sectors.
๐ก Takeaway
-
A strong theme does not always stop at the most obvious leader. Jason66โs Profit Top 5 stretched from AMD to MU, STX, QCOM and INTC. As a theme broadens, different parts of the value chain can start showing their own upside.
-
A strong index does not necessarily mean opportunities are broad-based. When equal-weighted indices weaken and market breadth narrows, watching where investors are still willing to put money can be more informative than looking at headline index moves alone.
