🎁Get a Head Start Before the Bell: Your Guide to US Stock Options Pre-Market Trading

Major economic releases and company earnings can move markets before the regular open. For options investors, being able to act on news and adjust positions promptly matters.

Tiger Trade now supports extended-hours options trading on 24 popular US stocks, including NVIDIA and Tesla. Trade up to 2 hours before the regular open, and for 15 minutes after the close.

Just in time for earnings season.

When can you trade? Which stocks are covered? How do you place an order? Here’s what you need to know.

  1. Start Earlier with Tiger Trade

For Singapore investors, options pre-market hours fall conveniently in the evening. After dinner, you can catch up on earnings and economic news, check the market, and prepare your orders.

You can start trading from 7:30 pm during US daylight saving time, or 8:30 pm during US standard time—up to 2 hours before the regular open. The pre-market session ends 5 minutes before the regular market opens.

Eligible options also have a 15-minute after-hours trading window following the regular close, giving you more time to adjust positions and manage exposure as markets move.

  1. Act on News Before the Open

Earnings announcements and economic releases don’t always happen during regular trading hours. With extended-hours options trading, you can respond to news before the regular open, adjust positions and manage exposure.

Tiger Trade offers three key advantages:

  • Exchange-direct model: Deeper liquidity, more transparent pricing, and greater trading flexibility.

  • Among the first globally: One of the first brokers to offer extended-hours US stock options trading.

  • 24 popular US stocks. All covered: Access options on popular names across technology, semiconductors, financial services, automotive, and more.

Supported stock tickers include:

From NVIDIA and Tesla to Apple, Amazon and Microsoft, you can explore opportunities in stocks you know.

  1. Place Orders with Ease

Update the Tiger Trade app before using this feature, then follow these three steps.

Step 1: Open the options contract and select Buy or Sell

Find an options contract that supports extended-hours trading, check the contract details, then select Buy or Sell.

Step 2: Set Type to Limit Order

Enter your Limit Price and Qty (quantity). Check the current bid, ask and spread before setting your price.

Step 3: Choose your Time in Force and Trading Hours

Choose your Time in Force (order validity). Under Trading Hours, select GTH+RTH+Curb:

  • GTH: Pre-market

  • RTH: Regular hours

  • Curb: After-hours

Review the contract, order side, limit price, and quantity, then submit. You can track your order and fill status on the orders page.

  1. Risk Management and Trade Tips

Extended-hours trading conditions may differ from those during regular hours. Before placing an order, watch:

  • Liquidity and market depth: Some contracts may have fewer buy and sell orders.

  • Spreads: Wider bid-ask spreads may increase trading costs.

  • Volatility: Prices may move quickly following earnings, economic releases or other news.

  • Order execution: Limit orders are not guaranteed to fill. Orders may be partially filled or remain unfilled.

Watch spreads, market depth and volatility, and set your limit price and quantity accordingly.
