This year, the <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/IVZ\">Invesco</a> S&amp;P 500 Equal Weight ETF <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/RSP\">$(RSP)$</a> has outperformed SPY and the S&amp;P 500:</p>\n<p>The weighted forward P/E ratio for the S&amp;P 500 is 21.1, according to FactSet. For comparison, the Invesco S&amp;P 500 Equal Weight ETF (RSP) has a forward P/E is 18.4.</p>\n<p>The equal-weighted approach is, arguably, less risky than the cap-weighted approach, because an investor avoids such a large concentration in a handful of stocks. But during the S&amp;P 500's strong run in recent years, the equal-weighted portfolio has underperformed the index.
