PBF Energy Inc., together with its subsidiaries, engages in refining and supplying petroleum products. The company operates in two segments, Refining and Logistics.

PBF Energy mainly produces gasoline, ultra-low-sulfur diesel and other petroleum products. The company sells its products in Northeast, Midwest, Gulf Coast, and West Coast of the United States, as well as in other regions of the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

As of December 31, 2021, the company owned and operated six oil refineries and related assets. PBF Energy Inc. was founded in 2008 and is based in Parsippany, New Jersey.

[History & Events]

2008: PBF was formed as a joint venture by Petroplus Holdings and the private equity companies Blackstone Group and First Reserve, each committing $667 million in equity.

2010: PBF then acquired the Toledo refinery from Sunoco in December for approximately $400 million.

2012: PBF went public in December with a $533 million initial public offering.

2014: PBF Logistics LP and PBF Energy Inc. announced that the Partnership has entered into an agreement to acquire the Delaware City Heavy Crude Unloading Rack (the“West Rack”) from a subsidiary of PBF for total consideration of $150 million.

2015: PBF acquired the 189,000 BPD Chalmette, Louisiana refinery from ExxonMobil and its partner, the state-owned Petroleos de Venezuela, for $322 million.

2016: PBF acquired the 155,000 BPD ExxonMobil refinery in Torrance, California for $537.5M.

2019: PBF agreed to purchase Shell Martinez refinery.

2020: PBF completed the acquisition of Martinez refinery, and related logistics assets, from Equilon Enterprises LLC d/b/a Shell Oil Products US (the "Seller" or "Shell").
