2021: Allegiance Coal announced the acquisition of the Short Creek Mine located 25 km west of Birmingham, Alabama, and 27 km southwest of the Black Warrior Mine.

2022: Allegiance Coal has tapped Jonathan Romcke as its chief executive officer and company director.
