$Occidental(OXY)$ was one of the largest gainers in the S&P this year….among a large crowd of losers. You have to expect people to make sales of the losers (many of which are still falling as uncertain economic times approach.). If selling the losers generated a capital loss > $3,000 , it natural that some winners also get sold to keep the level of the capital loss “deductible”.
It will be hard to get a read on Oxy’s true direction until early January. And then, any help form Russia, OPEC, or Warren Buffet will be magnified.
