$Berkshire Hathaway(BRK.B)$There has been alot of rumour and speculation on why Berkshire sold $BYD COMPANY(01211)$.


keep in mind Berkshire has 105 Billion of cash and it does not need 47 Million. The only reason Berkshire sold some of the shares was to reduce ownership from above 20% to only 19%. If Berkshire is to have a ownership of more than 20%, then it will have to consolidate the earnings of BYD into its own financial statement as well. And since BYD is a china company, it is going to be extremely hard and complicated to do so. 

People need to stop overreacting really. BYD is a solid company and Berkshire will forever be a compounding machine.
