The Swiss National Bank's recent actions
@Just Do It:Recently, it's the day of the quarterly 13F filing report release. Let me briefly explain what the 13F report is. According to the regulations of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), investment institutions with assets under management of over 100 million US dollars are required to report their quarterly stock trades. While investors are focusing on the actions of super investors like Buffett selling TSMC, Dalio, Howard Marks, we specifically noticed the "national-level hedge fund" Swiss National Bank, whose behavior in Q4 2022 was very unusual! The Swiss National Bank's actions are different from other hedge funds, as they almost frantically sold their existing holdings! If you look at their 13F report, you will find that the top 250 companies they hold by market value were almost all sold to varying degrees! However, looking back at the results, the stock price had already bottomed out and rebounded significantly at the beginning of Q4 last year, but the Swiss National Bank still sold a large amount, resulting in a loss of up to 132 billion Swiss francs for the entire year 2022, which is the biggest loss in 115 years! Interestingly, during the stock price slump in Q2 and Q3 of 2022, the Swiss National Bank still "picked up bargains" for individual stocks they favored, such as Tesla, Nvidia, and so on, but this time they sold almost all the top 250 companies they held by market value. It is interesting to note the behavior of the Swiss National Bank, which is known as a "national-level hedge fund," as it appears that they had a bearish outlook on the market in Q4 2022. The fact that they sold almost all of their top 250 holdings is highly unusual, especially given the rebound in the stock market during that time. However, it is also worth noting that they continued to "pick up bargains" for stocks they favored during the market downturn in Q2 and Q3 of 2022, which suggests that their investment strategy is not entirely predictable. Overall, the behavior of the Swiss National Bank highlights the challenges that even professional investors face when trying to navigate the market. @Daily_Discussion @MillionaireTiger @TigerStars @MaverickTiger @CaptainTiger
