On 28/3 (Tue), $Alibaba(BABA)$ 🇺🇸BABA 🚀🚀🚀14.26% & closed at USD 98.40 & inched up to $99.09 at post-market trading. The 🐂 rally continued into HKEX today (29.3) with 🇭🇰BABA jumping 12.23% to close at HKD 94.55. At 1 point, BABA hit a high of HKD 98. This 🐂 rally was because BABA’s announced that it would be splitting its $220 billion empire into 6 business units as part of a massive restructuring, leading to investors reappraise their valuations for BABA. Chief Executive Daniel Zhang will continue to serve as chairman & chief executive of Alibaba Group, the parent company, while each of the 6 business groups will be managed by their own CEO 6 board of directors. Its domestic e-commerce business will remain a wholly owned unit of Alibaba. Zhang will also head up the cloud intelligence division. The 6 business groups are: ⭐️ Taobao Tmall Commerce Group-BABA’s online shopping platforms including Taobao & Tmall. ⭐️ Cloud Intelligence Group-BABA’s cloud & artificial intelligence activities. ⭐️ Local Services Group-BABA’s food delivery service Ele.me as well as its mapping. ⭐️ Cainiao Smart Logistics-BABA’s logistics service. ⭐️ Digital Media & Entertainment Group-BABA’s streaming & movie business. ⭐️ Global Digital Commerce Group-BABA’s international e-commerce businesses including AliExpress & Lazada ➡️ 😃Will Lazard IPO in 🇸🇬 soon❓ 🥳🥳🥳Reasons To Be 🐂-ish For Alibaba: (1) The 6 business groups will operate independently & are free to raise funds & explore initial public offerings (IPOs) in the future❣️ 🐂 This will add value to current shareholders if the IPOs proceed🤗🥳 (2) The splitting will empower the various businesses to become more agile, enhance decision-making, & enable faster responses to market changes. 🐂 With greater ownership & autonomy, staff are likely to be more driven & with greater efficiency, profitability may increase💪 (3) There is speculation that decentralisation of BABA may have ticked several Chinese government regulatory boxes✅✅✅ 🐂 Less regulatory concerns would mean that the BABA can be focused on growth again🥳 (4) A successful example was where Google restructured in 2015 to become Alphabet with Alphabet as the holding company with many subsidiary companies. As can be seen in the stock graph below, Alphabet experienced exponential growth after 2015🥳🥳🥳 🐂 This means that BABA might have the same potential too❣️ (5) Co-Founder Jack Ma returning to 🇨🇳 after an extended absence has ignited optimism in some quarters that the private sector might be more favourable for investment.
