Bob Lee, former Chief Technology Officer of $Block(SQ)$ and current Chief Product Officer of MobileCoin was stabbed in downtown San Francisco around 2:35 a.m. on April 4 and later died of his injuries.

After the news, people in the Silicon Valley tech community also expressed their shock and sorrow at his misfortune.

1. Bob Lee - A Silicon Valley Tech maverick & An Insightful Investor

Bob Lee worked at $Alphabet(GOOG)$ from 2004-2010, where he was involved in building Google's Android system.

In 2010, he joined $Block(SQ)$, a financial tech company founded by Twitter founder Jack Dorsey, as Block's first Chief Technology Officer. He not only led the technology structure of Block, but was also the creator and founder of Cash App, which was the protagonist of short report targeted $Block(SQ)$.

In 2021, Bob Lee joined MobileCoin as Chief Product Officer and has been with the company since.

Since leaving $Block(SQ)$ , Bob has also joined SV Angle and SignalFire as a partner, calling himself "Crazy Bob".

Bob Lee's death in the attack caused great concern in the tech community. In addition to Dylan Field, many of Bob Lee's former partners and colleagues have also posted a remembrance.

Jack Dorsey, founder and CEO of $Block(SQ)$ , said it was heartbreaking to hear the news of Bob's passing, saying that Bob played a vital role in building Square and the Cash App.

3. Questioning: incidents or attempted murder?

Former global mixed martial arts champion Jake Shields said that even though Bob Lee was already in a relatively nice area of downtown San Francisco at the time, he still suffered such a random assault.

The place where Bob Lee was stabbed is actually only a few minutes' walking distance from Google's San Francisco office, surrounded by high-class office buildings and residences, and not considered a place where homeless people gather and have a high crime rate.

Subsequently, Elon Musk also left a message under Jake Shields tweet saying that as far as he knows many people living in San Francisco have suffered very serious attacks and that the crime in San Francisco has been so horrific. Many of the attackers would have been released quickly even if they had been arrested.

Musk called on the city of San Francisco to take stronger measures to prevent crime.
