My favourite Chinese New Year snack involves a 🐧

@Jo Tan
Woah hey, no it's not Penguin meat! It involves this little guy here! So what happened was that my family and I were searching for a place to eat a few years ago during Chinese New Year but realised that most of the stores were closed or didn't have food that they really liked. I was thinking in my mind, aiyoo why so picky, hungry already just eat anything loh... But I couldn't bear to do it because... Chinese New Year... Anyway, luckily, we chances upon a Don Don Donki and my little one was attracted by the wonderful smell of the sweet potatoes! I took the opportunity to say fine, if you eat something here (luckily, they had those nice packed bentos), I get you the sweet potatoes for dessert! By this time I looked relieved because even my wife nodded in much agreement. Looking at the glass shelves hungrily, we went in to choose our meals. I've never seen my little one eat so fast and had to remind her to chew carefully. Then after the meal was done, I went to buy some of the warm sweet potatoes. Even though she had eaten quite a bit of the bento set, I guess what they say is true, that there is always room for dessert. Look at those hungry jaws! I had to gingerly peel the skin for the eager ones but boy was the warm sweet potato skin easy to peel. The golden yellow meat was soon visible and my little one was asking me to hurry! Now wait a min, I said, who bought this??? Without hearing what I said, greedy paws grabbed the packet and started devouring, gobbling, er.. hey leave some for me please! Since then, the memory of sweet potatoes rises each Chinese New Year and it has since been a staple snack each year due to the fond (but greedy) memory. I buy a few packets each year back and it has since been a weird symbol of family togetherness where we searched (maybe I should I searched and found ???) for food. I know it's not your usual Chinese New Year food but it sure is a hit whenever you serve them warm. I usually leave the packets out beside the usual snacks we have. People always ask about it (but they keep quiet once they sink their teeth into it) and we love to tell them the story. Happy Chinese New Year everyone and may your Chinese New Year be as golden as the potato! Quack Quack (er I mean, Chirp Chirp or whatever sound the penguin makes!) @TigerEvents @TigerStars @Tiger_chat Congratulations, you have found the HAPPYCNY cards.
