Apple plans to narrow iPhone 14 production lag between China, India
In an effort to narrow the production gap from the typical six to nine months for previous launches, Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) $Apple(AAPL)$
According to people familiar with the matter, the U.S. tech giant has been working with suppliers to ramp up production in India, with the first iPhone 14s from the country expected to be finished in late Oct. or Nov., following the initial Sep. release.
Foxconn, Apple's Taiwan-based supplier, has examined the process of shipping items from China and assembling the phone at its Chennai facility.
Apple (AAPL) did not immediately respond to Reuters' request for comment.
Contract manufacturers supplying American brands are increasingly eyeing India and other countries such as Vietnam and Mexico as they try to diversify production away from China.
