⭐⭐⭐STI ETF - My Long Term Bet On Singapore's Economy ⭐⭐⭐
🌈🌈🌈I am so happy that $ES3(ES3.SI)$ has done well in a year when my US stocks have been battered by the high inflation and rising interest rates.
When I first started investing in stocks, STI ETF is a great starting point as it is low cost and less risk. It was also easy on my pocket compared to buying individual stocks. For example, the last closing price on STI ETF was SGD 3.306 compared to $DBS GROUP HOLDINGS LTD(D05.SI)$ which was SGD 34.04.
In fact in just 1 trade, I gain exposure to all 3 local banks at a fraction of the price I would have to pay if I invest in each one of them individually.
DBS occupies the top spot with 20% weightage, followed by OCBC at 14% and UOB at 13%. The 3 banks take up 47% of STI holdings. Then there is Singtel, Jardine Matheson, Keppel Corp, Capitaland Integrated Commercial Trust, Capitaland Investment, Capitaland Ascendas Reit and Wilmar International. They form the Top 10 holdings of STI ETF.
The expense ratio is 0.30% and dividends are paid half yearly. The current dividend yield is 3.39%.
$ES3(ES3.SI)$ has gained 8% in 1 year and comparing that to $SPY(SPY)$ which is down 19%, STI ETF has done remarkably well.
I am glad I have STI ETF to balance against tmy paper loss in $SPLG(SPLG)$ . It goes to show that diversification is important in volatile markets.
As a Singaporean, I am proud to invest in STI ETF as I believe in the economic success and future of Singapore. STI ETF is a slow and steady kind of investment, if a little boring. But in Bear Markets, slow and steady is great. Best of all I get to collect the regular dividends every 6 months while I wait for capital growth. How good is that!
Go Long Go Strong Go STI! 🚀🚀🚀🌛🌛🌛💰💰💰🌈🌈🌈😍😍😍
