US market on 19 Jan 2023 (Thu). Interest Hike Fears Has Set In ?
On Wed (18 Jan 2023), US economic data on (a) Retail sales, (b) Producer Prices declined more than expected for Dec 2022 and (c) US factories' Nov 2022 production fell more than expected and weaker than anticipated.
Coupled with hawkish comments from Federal Reserve officials, soured investors mood immediately.
When market closed for 18 Jan 2023 :
- DJIA : -1.81% (-613.89 TO 33,296.96). All 30 stocks on Dow Jones were all Red !
- S&P 500 : -1.56% (-62.11 TO 3,928.86).
- Nasdaq : -1.27% (-138.10 to 10,957.01). Below 11,000 market once again.
Looking at the Indexes' Moving Averages :
3 Indexes - Moving Averages (MA)
Just I have thought :
- With a massive -1.81% fall, DJIA is below its 20-day MA
- S&P 500 managed to stay above its 200-day MA before ytd struck and brought it back below
- Nasdaq's gap has once again widened with its 200-day MA.
How Will US Market Open Today ?
Was yesterday's market really a case of investors being jittery about the various reports published ?
Wouldn't they have been "good" news from the Fed's perspective no ?
Wasn't it the Fed's objective to embark on a "soft landing". Now that it seems to be going their way, why the hawkish stances by Fed members; injecting fear into the market again ?

- Looking at US Pre-market indicators (above diagram) - Red !
- Bitcoin & Ethereum prices for last hour & 24 hours (above diagram) - Red & Red ! *Note : Bitcoin has fallen back to the $20,000 per coin over the weekends.
- Asia markets (ASX - Green !, Nikkei - Red !, KOPSI - Green !, HSI - Red !)
- EU markets - -(DAX -Red !, FTSE -Red !, CAC -Red !).
Has Attention Once Again Turned Back To The Impending FOMC Meeting And Its Interest Rate ?
- Looks like someone is trying to create a smoke screen so that attention is not on them or their company. Read on...
- Fed's hawkish comments is putting a brake on market's upwards movement.
- Do you think the Market will continue with its fall or buck the trend and rise again ?
- Do you think people are talking about the Interest Hike to deflect attention from the company's stock ?
