Welcome to Thursday Special!

During earnings seasons, stock market volatility tends to peak.

If a company's earnings are much higher than expected, then the company's stock may gap up the next day. This means that the stock price opened higher than it closed the day before, thereby leaving a gap.

For example, $NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$ left two gaps in earnings and not filled.

When a company's earnings cause its stock price to jump like this because they did so well, it's called an earnings gap. Lots of investors like using this to pick stocks.

What do you think about using the 'gap up' trick for picking stocks?

Know any other stocks like NVDA that keep leaving these gaps after earnings and never filling them?

An unfilled gap trading strategy happens when all the price action today is either lower than yesterday’s low (gap down) or higher than yesterday’s high (gap up). They are also profitable if we base our buy signals on additional criteria.

well known stock like $Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ , etc have these gaps

Nice sharing on the gap up, yes, we oftenly see stocks with big gap up especially after earnings or some stimulus. Well, usually the Gap will be filled over the time, but then if the stock is too strong and bullish, the gap won't be filled, just like the case study above for NVIDIA.
I did found another example is $SUPER MICRO COMPUTER INC(SMCI)$ . There were 2 gap unfilled gap up and the current price 800+ is far beyond these gaps.

The "gap up" strategy involves identifying stocks that open significantly higher than their previous day's close, often indicating positive market sentiment or a potential upward trend. While it can be a useful tool for short-term trading or momentum investing, it's important to combine it with thorough research and analysis to ensure sound investment decisions. Relying solely on this strategy without considering other factors could lead to risks and losses.

$Palantir Technologies Inc.(PLTR)$is one of them

Just like NVDA
