Rethinking My High-Risk Investment Strategy
Overall my portfolio is up 26% annualised over the last 6 months. And my plays to bet on a potential winner are seriously lacking. So what was I thinking? I don't think I was thinking. Early adoption can clearly pay off if you get it right, but I bet on four stocks, three lost, one is a big winner, but so much effort to basically break even. I'm thinking, time to reevaluate my thinking.

First half of 2024 has been an extraordinary occasion for my investment portfolio, marked by substantial gains and significant learning opportunities. One of the most noteworthy successes was Nvidia Corp $NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$ , whose shares surged impressively, drawing considerable attention from investors keen to capitalize on its momentum. Overall, my portfolio saw a diversified mix of tech and AI stocks, contributing to a robust performance throughout the half year period.
Countercyclical and long-term investing
My family lives in Singapore. Both my wife and I are working, we own a HDB flat without house loan. We have thousands of cash in hand. So it's essential to invest in my family case.My portfolio were well positioned, capital P/L breakeven, collected 18k dividends passive income a year.Almost all my position generate 4-9% dividend yield, I believe I can get both capital gains and dividend in the near future. US Federal rate cut can happen anytime.

Stock vouchers issued by Tiger can be used to offset the amount of an order. The voucher will be automatically issued to the client's Reward Centre once the client meets the eligibility criteria. I will take this opportunity to DCA certain stocks as they are at a price that's attractive. I will also invest in new stocks that am eyeing for a long time and it's a good time to get them as they are at their 52 week low.
what I've learned is that there's always ups and downs when it comes to investing, and patience, discipline are needed to wait it out.
more importantly, risk management is one aspect that is needed when it comes to investing.

However, I achieved steady and consistent progress building up my portfolio through options trading. I'm not the best; still learning, but am thankful and appreciative for what I have achieved thus far. ๐๐
In the first half of 2024, my PnL ratio was 38.77% and I earned about USD $40, 260. From 2023 till now, my overall PnL ratio stands at 328.94%. Haha I hope that my PnL ratio goes above 1000% one day! ๐๐

I stared at my computer screen in despair, watching my US stock market investments hemorrhage money. Despite my cautious approach, the market's unpredictability had caught me off guard, leaving me with a five-figure loss. But I refused to give up.
I dedicated myself to recovering my losses, pouring over financial news, analyzing trends, and studying stock performance. I diversified my portfolio, taking calculated risks and hedging my bets. Slowly but surely, my losses began to shrink.
The journey was long and arduous, with setbacks and false starts along the way. But I persisted, driven by determination and a refusal to accept defeat. And then, something amazing happened. My investments began to turn around, with losses dwindling and gains piling up.
As the weeks passed, my confidence grew. I was making smart decisions, and my portfolio was reflecting it. By the end of June 2024, I had achieved the unthinkable: turning a five-figure @TigerTrade @TigerCommunity @TigerCommunity
Instead of putting my money into the S&P500, I've decided to do stock picking, thinking that I can do better. I did not buy heavily into $NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$ as I thought it was overpriced. I bought into laggards like $Hershey(HSY)$ , $Paycom(PAYC)$ , $Estee Lauder(EL)$ , $Nike(NKE)$ instead, thinking that they will recover and turn around soon.
Not to mention I have part of my portfolio in Singapore REITs, which is yet to see signs of recovery. The only good thing is that they pay decent dividends so I've been putting these dividends back into the market to buy more stocks.
One positive is that I managed to make some money by selling put options. It's been a decent move in the current bullish environment.
I can only hope that the second half of the year will see better recovery for my lagging stocks
