You either sell at the peaks and buy on the dips accordingly. Or you buy calls on the way up and puts on the way down. Covered works too.

Based on the news and articles related to MicroStrategy (MSTR) on 2024-11-30, here are some key points:

MicroStrategy's stock price rose by 4% on that day, along with the overall rise in crypto-related stocks due to the resurgence of Bitcoin. The consensus price target for MicroStrategy is $449.5, based on assessments from 12 analysts, with the highest target set at $690.

MicroStrategy has transitioned from a software company to a "bitcoin treasury company," trading more like a leveraged Bitcoin fund than a traditional software firm. This transition has affected the stock's performance and investor sentiment.

MicroStrategy is often discussed in relation to Bitcoin and its treasury holdings of the cryptocurrency. The company's accumulation of Bitcoin is seen as a bullish signal for its long-term outlook.

That’s a solid strategy for capturing premium in volatile moves! Far OTM puts on the way down can work if support holds, and far OTM calls on the way up are great if resistance stays strong. Just be cautious with MSTR’s sharp swings—it’s not for the faint-hearted! ⛔️

Hi @Barcode may I ask what does covered means? Thanks!
    • BarcodeReplyRinseRepeat
If MSTR drops to $380, your shares are down $20 each, but you haven’t lost until you sell. Your $430 call loses value since it’s out of the money, with time decay nibbling away as expiry nears. Volatility props it up, though. Shares = steady ship; call = risky jet ski!

Genuinely appreciate on the explanation there BC! Thanks for taking the time to explain it in details. You don’t know how grateful I am to receive this.

This is the part that it gets me confusing. Let’s take a real time example, I owned 20 shares of MSTR at a limit price of $400 and I also bought a “call option” with a strike price of $430 and expiry date of 27 Jan 2025.

During active market, MSTR started falling to $380/share, my 20 shares and Call option would be in the 🔴 zone isn’t it. Means I’m actually losing on both my shares and option ( unrealized pnl ).

I had to keep shortening my reply with the word limit 🤣 Good ole Google though! Tiger have some good training modules on Options, worth a watch 👍🍀🍀🍀

A covered call is an options trading strategy that involves an investor holding a long position in an underlying asset, such as a stock, while simultaneously writing (selling) call options on the same asset. This approach aims to generate additional income from the premiums received by selling the call options

This came out when I googled it! Somewhat similar to what you have explained BC! Hehe
