$Tiger Brokers(TIGR)$ so I am the emotional investor, I'll get to that in a bit, but let's just say I'm a fundamental investor first. If I'm selling when a stock breaks even, or waiting a little bit, then basically I got it wrong. I buy a stock because based on my analysis I believe it's a growth stock and will go up significantly in the medium to long term. Or I buy because it's an income stock with either small dividend growth but great and consistent large payouts like $Trinity Capital Inc.(TRIN)$. Or it's got small dividends but massive dividend growth over time, like $Realty Income(O)$. At the end of the day, with dividend stocks I want a minimum of 15% combined return from returns and growth. And a serious track record of doing it.
Dividend stocks are the foundation of my portfolio because they give me cash every month to reinvest. No need to sell at break even, or sell at a profit, because they are the engine room of my portfolio. IDC, they just keep ticking over, giving me cash. It's not about investing in fomo, it's just about being sensible and building a solid portfolio foundation.
Growth stocks are a different story, you can make a ton if you are right, and loose a ton if wrong. Especially if you're on margin or doing options. Personally only one of my dividend stocks has gone bad, all the others, without exception have exceeded my expectations. And ok so I have over 30 dividend stocks, not in my personal portfolio but in combination with my youngest son and my two grandchildren. My portfolio requirements are very different to my son who is 14, and my grandchildren that are 5 and 3. If you think I can't possibly cover that many stocks... well just follow me, cause I can. Obviously not on a daily basis but a grew up and was investing before cell phones or computers or the internet were invented, its so easy Now!
Oh if you are still with me, please like this post, yesterdays post has over 17,000 views but only 900 odd likes. And I'm at 997 followers, please follow me and I will follow you too. Why am I even saying this, it's not a you tube channel. Just because well I feel the love.
So now to the important bit. the emotional investor stuff. Last year I made quite a bit of money with what is my main strategy (pic below shows you). Basically what I do is understand human perceptions. The reality of a situation vs the perceptions of it. Most of my gains last year were from $Rocket Lab USA, Inc.(RKLB)$ and $SoFi Technologies Inc.(SOFI)$, and a few others. But they were the best increasing my portfolio from US$ 10,000 to over US$ 50,000. Actually more than that, cause I drew out my initial investment last year. Yes I used margin and options, very high risk, but this year is different. Things have changed, so an emotional investor must adapt.
At this point,do you get that I'm not some tosser driving round in a leased Lamborghini telling you to sub to my channel or something for one day only so it's cheap. Nope, had a bit of money, turned it into something reasonable. But I want to turn reasonable into amazing.
2025 is no longer about spotting amazing growth companies. It's about manipulation. I hate the way current media spreads false truths but every week there is another one. I don't like politics, never comment on it. But I'll just say the lies coming out of a certain presidents mouth are lies, or the ramblings of someone that should be in the dementia ward of a rest home.
I truly hate lies and manipulation, but I am pradmatic. As a retail investor I cannot compete with hedge funds, so when you can't beat em join them. I'm going to be different this year, sell down positions in long term growth stocks I love. Sell puts, buy calls.
I will play this game, buy on the nonsense of the dips, sell on the following week of... oh wait... no wait it recovered, but here's the thing, this ones rubbish this week, sell it, buy this now it's going to be amazing.
I'll just make money listening to daily nonsense. It's totally wrong, but whatever, stupid is what stupid does. Sad, very sad, but whatever
