Bank of America’s latest report highlights that AI-powered data centers are becoming the biggest growth engine for data center investments — while traditional (non-AI) systems remain sluggish.


📊 Global IT spending stands at $5.4 trillion, with $420 billion going into data center systems. By 2030, that market is expected to more than double to $980 billion, growing at a 19% CAGR — far above the overall IT growth rate of 8%.


💡 Specifically, AI data center systems are forecasted to surge from $256.4B in 2025 to $823.1B by 2030, at a massive 26% CAGR. By then, AI systems will make up over 83% of the total data center market. Breakdown of AI-related hardware spending:

Processors: 86%

Networking: 9%

Storage: 5%
