For the first time in nearly 20 years, a U.S. President personally visited the Federal Reserve. Trump showed up to inspect whether the Fed’s construction project had gone over budget, claiming the new project cost $3.1 billion. And then… Powell raised an eyebrow.
Trump: Looks like it cost about $3.1 billion.
Powell: I don’t know anything about that.
Trump: The news just came out.
Powell: You just added another building.
Trump: That’s a building under construction.
Powell: It was completed five years ago.
