Singapore Airlines Expects 2023 Airfares May Decline As Rivals Add Capacity

Reuters2022-11-07

Nov 7 (Reuters) - Singapore Airlines Ltd (SIA) expects yields, a proxy for airfares, could decline in 2023 as rival airlines bring back planes idled during the pandemic and add capacity, a senior executive said on Monday.

"We would not expect yields to stay at the same elevated levels we were at in 2022," SIA Executive Vice President Commercial Lee Lik Hsin told analysts and media of the outlook on an earnings call.

The airline on Friday swung to a second-quarter profit and declared its first dividend in three years as international borders reopened and travel demand rebounded strongly in the three months ended on Sept. 30.

A reduction in airfares will lure more business traveller to travel with SIA as they are known for good services and uses the latest fleet of aircraft. Indirectly, it will increase revenue for SIA. I have confident that $SINGAPORE AIRLINES LTD(C6L.SI)$will continue to shine.  As for holiday makers, just like me, if the price is attractive and not forgetting the timing, I will go for SIA too. They are also known for lesser flight delays - unless, unforeseen circumstances that caused them unable to catch up with the lag time. So far, they did. then upon arrival at destination, SIA will arrange small gifts as a token of appreciation for the delays. I used to receive gifts varies from chocolate, TSA
