Common interests between China and the US outweigh their differences, Xi says.
The successes of both China and the US are opportunities for each other, and a stable China-US relationship is beneficial to the world, Xi tells Trump.
“I look forward to exchanging views with Mr. President on major issues concerning both countries and the world, working together to steer the ship of China-US relations well, making 2026 a historic and landmark year for China-US relations,” Xi says.
Trump kicked off his remarks reflecting on the arrival ceremony saying “that was an honor,” adding “I think I was particularly impressed by those children. They were happy. They were beautiful.”
Trump also said that when there were difficulties, they “worked it out,” adding “I would call you and you would call me and whenever we had a problem - people don’t know - whenever we had a problem, we worked that out very quickly.”
Trump says ties with Beijing will be better than ever before and he’s looking forward to doing business with China.
