A listing through a special purpose acquisition company could take place as soon as the end of this year, the people said.</p>\n<p>Carousell would be joining a growing list of companies in Southeast Asia that are planning to go public in the U.S. via SPAC mergers. They include Malaysia’s online used-car platform&nbsp;Carsome Sdn.&nbsp;and Indonesia’s&nbsp;Tiket.com&nbsp;as well as Singapore’s&nbsp;PropertyGuru Pte&nbsp;and&nbsp;Grab Holdings Inc.</p>\n<p>Discussions are preliminary and details of Carousell’s listing plans could change, the people said. Those tremendous results made investors sit up and take notice.</p>\n<p>Given her results in 2020, it's worth watching what Wood is buying -- even if some of those stocks may not exactly be your cup of tea. To further increase my chances of finding winning investments from among her picks, I look for companies that boast industry-leading positions, robust secular tailwinds, and large and growing total addressable markets.</p>\n<p>Three stocks Wood bought last week meet all of those lofty criteria.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/bba4bdedb6fc0d1201a2ee137c8921bb\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"450\"><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p>\n<h2>Okta: The cutting edge of identity management</h2>\n<p>The <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/ARKW\">ARK Next Generation Internet ETF</a></b> (NYSEMKT:ARKW) focuses on companies that will benefit from broad technological trends including cloud computing, mobile communication, big data, and the Internet of Things. One of the biggest stumbling blocks for companies looking to make use of many of those technologies is the prevalence of hacking and unauthorized access that plagues the modern era. Ensuring that only those with the proper credentials can access critical networks is a big job, and <b>Okta</b> (NASDAQ:OKTA) is there to answer the call.</p>\n<p>The company is the leader in cloud-based identity management and authentication services. Okta manages access across any application, person, or device, and handles not only employees, but also serves as the gatekeeper allowing partners, contractors, and customers to access those systems they are authorized to use. Rather than simply connecting to a company's network, Okta integrates with more than 6,500 of the most-used enterprise software applications, including <b>Amazon</b>&nbsp;Web Services, <b>salesforce.com</b>, <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/ZM\">Zoom</a> Video Communications</b>, and <b>Microsoft</b> Office 365.</p>\n<p>Okta has been named the industry leader in its niche for seven years running by research company <b>Gartner</b>. It was also singled out by Forrester as a leader in the field for both its Identity-as-a-Service (IDaaS) and its Zero Trust eXtended Ecosystem. These industry accolades help illustrate the value of Okta's offerings.</p>\n<p>If you need further evidence, look no further than its recent results. Okta's revenue increased 43% last year, while subscriptions climbed 44%. The company's remaining performance obligation (RPO) -- which represents revenue that is under contract but has not yet been recognized -- grew even faster, by 49%, which signals the trajectory of its future growth.</p>\n<p>With the acquisition of Auth0 last month, Okta expanded its addressable market from $55 billion to $80 billion. Considering that it generated revenue of just $835 million last year, even if the company only captures a small part of its total addressable market, the stock could grow several-fold from here.</p>\n<p>Wood only opened a position in Okta last week, so this could be the beginning of a long and lucrative association.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f8b0c83b8a99bffdb138bb49c36053ae\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"356\"><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p>\n<h2>The Trade Desk: No cookies in its diet</h2>\n<p>Another trend that still has legs is the transition to digital advertising -- and more specifically, <i>programmatic</i> advertising. To ensure that it has exposure to this large and growing trend, the ARK Next Generation Internet ETF is betting big on <b>The Trade Desk</b> (NASDAQ:TTD).</p>\n<p>Not only is the company the leading independent demand-side advertising platform, but it partners with the world's largest ad agencies rather than competing against them. This gives The Trade Desk a large and growing ecosystem in which to expand its market share.</p>\n<p>While the digital advertising industry is up in arms due to <b>Alphabet</b>'s announcement regarding the pending death of cookies and <b>Apple</b>'s moves to increase user privacy, The Trade Desk is uniquely positioned to sidestep most of the issues those changes will create.</p>\n<p>First, only about 8% of its advertising spend is reliant on Apple's Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA), so the tech giant's plans to essentially kill it won't materially impact The Trade Desk's business. Second, and perhaps more importantly, The Trade Desk has long prepared for the demise of cookies. The company developed the Unified ID, an identifier that helps target ads, but doesn't contain any personally identifiable information, so it doesn't invade user privacy.</p>\n<p>The most important names in the industry use The Trade Desk's Unified ID, including Index Exchange, <b>Magnite</b>, <b>PubMatic</b>, OpenX, SpotX, <b>Criteo</b>, <b>LiveRamp</b>, and Neustar, just to name a few.</p>\n<p>In the fourth quarter, The Trade Desk grew revenue by 48% year over year -- its highest growth rate in nearly two years -- while net income nearly tripled. The company's total revenue last year hit $836 million, which pales in comparison to its total addressable market of $1 trillion annually in the coming decade.</p>\n<p>These factors no doubt led Wood to increase ARK Next Generation Internet ETF's position in The Trade Desk last week, bringing it to 2.28% of the total $5.27 billion funds under management, and making it the fund's 13th largest position.</p>\n<p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8879046bbfe592f08b387aca6b54b4e0\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"393\"><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p>\n<h2>Palantir Technologies: Finding needles in haystacks</h2>\n<p>The <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/ARKK\">ARK Innovation ETF</a></b> (NYSEMKT:ARKK) focuses on disruptive technology that could potentially change the way the world works, which is likely why it was attracted by <b>Palantir Technologies </b>(NYSE:PLTR). It can take years, sometimes decades, to develop the necessary tools to gather, consolidate, and analyze data trapped in silos. These problems have plagued enterprise companies and governments alike. While Palantir has been public for less than a year, it has been building its data mining and warehousing tools for nearly 20 years -- and it has an extensive tech pedigree.</p>\n<p>Palantir is the brainchild of Peter Thiel, <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE\">one</a> of the co-founders of <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/PYPL\">PayPal</a></b> (NASDAQ: PYPL), so disruptive technology is right up his alley. The company has been helping defense and intelligence agencies crunch data in the fight against terrorism for years, and has an impressive track record of capturing lucrative government contracts. But that's just the beginning. Ensuring that only those with the proper credentials can access critical networks is a big job, and Okta (NASDAQ:OKTA) is there to answer the call.\nThe company is the leader in cloud-based identity management and authentication services. Okta manages access across any application, person, or device, and handles not only employees, but also serves as the gatekeeper allowing partners, contractors, and customers to access those systems they are authorized to use. Rather than simply connecting to a company's network, Okta integrates with more than 6,500 of the most-used enterprise software applications, including Amazon Web Services, salesforce.com, Zoom Video Communications, and Microsoft Office 365.\nOkta has been named the industry leader in its niche for seven years running by research company Gartner. It was also singled out by Forrester as a leader in the field for both its Identity-as-a-Service (IDaaS) and its Zero Trust eXtended Ecosystem. These industry accolades help illustrate the value of Okta's offerings.\nIf you need further evidence, look no further than its recent results. Okta's revenue increased 43% last year, while subscriptions climbed 44%. The company's remaining performance obligation (RPO) -- which represents revenue that is under contract but has not yet been recognized -- grew even faster, by 49%, which signals the trajectory of its future growth.\nWith the acquisition of Auth0 last month, Okta expanded its addressable market from $55 billion to $80 billion. To ensure that it has exposure to this large and growing trend, the ARK Next Generation Internet ETF is betting big on The Trade Desk (NASDAQ:TTD).\nNot only is the company the leading independent demand-side advertising platform, but it partners with the world's largest ad agencies rather than competing against them. This gives The Trade Desk a large and growing ecosystem in which to expand its market share.\nWhile the digital advertising industry is up in arms due to Alphabet's announcement regarding the pending death of cookies and Apple's moves to increase user privacy, The Trade Desk is uniquely positioned to sidestep most of the issues those changes will create.\nFirst, only about 8% of its advertising spend is reliant on Apple's Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA), so the tech giant's plans to essentially kill it won't materially impact The Trade Desk's business. Second, and perhaps more importantly, The Trade Desk has long prepared for the demise of cookies. That hasn't stopped Wood from picking up technology stocks that could deliver game-changing results and eventually find themselves in the exclusive 10-bagger club.</p><p><b>Schrodinger: Providing a speedier path to new drug discovery</b></p><p>Unless you work in the biopharmaceutical industry, you've probably never heard of<b>Schrodinger</b>(NASDAQ:SDGR). The company provides a platform that helps biopharmaceutical companies discover new treatments more quickly than traditional methods. The company'ssoftware-as-a-serviceplatform, which incorporates physics, data analytics, predictive analysis, and artificial intelligence, performs state-of-the-art simulations that lead to quicker and cheaper drug development and the discovery of novel treatment options.</p><p>Backed by Bill Gates, Schrodinger went public early last year, and the small company has had an impressive start. In 2020, revenue grew 26% year over year, driven by software revenue that increased 39%. Gross profit grew 29%, which helps illustrate the scalability of the company's model, though it's currently still unprofitable.</p><p>Its customer metrics are equally impressive. Last year, the number of customers with $1,000 in annual contract value (ACV) grew 16%, while those with ACV of $100,000 grew at 17%. More importantly, however, is that large customers with ACV of more than $1 million grew by 60%, and customer retention clocked in a 99%. If these trends continue, the company has a bright future.</p><p>Wood has been consistently adding to the<b>ARK Genomic Revolution</b>(NYSEMKT:ARKG)ETF's position in Schrodinger. With last week's purchases, the company has become a Top 20 position, representing nearly 2% of the $7.67 billion&nbsp;in assets under management.</p><p>Schrodinger is sitting in the catbird seat, at the heart of the digital transformation of drug discovery, and with a market cap of just $5 billion, it's easy to envision a path where Schrödinger could grow tenfold.</p><p><b>Opendoor Technologies: Embracing the changing face of real estate</b></p><p>The real estate industry is also in the midst of a paradigm shift, as it embraces a digital transformation. For example,<b>Opendoor Technologies</b>(NASDAQ:OPEN)developed an app-based platform that makes buying and selling a home a cinch. Homeowners can sell their property directly to Opendoor, which will then renovate and sell the home at a profit, or they can choose to sell to other buyers, all for a flat fee of 5% of the home's value. By eliminating the need for the traditional real estate agent, the company is carving out a growing and profitable niche for itself. Opendoor drew the attention of special-purpose acquisition company pioneer Chamath Palihapitiya's Social Capital Hedosophia Holdings, which brought Opendoor public late last year.</p><p>Like many real estate companies, Opendoor was initially hit by the pandemic, but it's staging a comeback. While revenue slipped 46% year over year, the company's gross profit margin grew to 8.5% of sales, up from 6.4%. The pandemic-driven housing boom should help Opendoor further scale its business. The company was still unprofitable in 2020, but it cut its net loss by 15%.</p><p><b>ARK Next Generation Internet</b>(NYSEMKT:ARKW)ETF and<b>ARK Fintech Innovation</b>(NYSEMKT:ARKF)both scooped up shares of Opendoor last week. The company is a significant holding for both funds, representing 2.32% and 2.83%, respectively, of the funds' holdings. The digital revolution is still in the early stages in the real estate industry, and with a market cap of just $13 billion, Opendoor could eventually be a 10-bagger from here.</p><p><b>Skillz: A mobile gaming powerhouse</b></p><p><b>Skillz</b>(NYSE:SKLZ)is a relative newcomer to the gaming industry, but it has carved out a growing niche for itself in the area of mobile gaming and esports. The company's platform can turn virtually any mobile game into a competition, where players can accumulate points or compete for cash and prizes. Mobile games have found a large and growing audience over the past year, helping fuel Skillz's popularity.</p><p>For the year ended Dec. 31, revenue grew 92% year over year, while gross profit increased by 91%. The company's net loss worsened by 408%, as Skillz races to add new users. The company has determined that the lifetime value of new members far outstrips the cost of adding them now. This will no doubt increase the leverage of its platform, helping multiply future profits. The strategy is working as new players are flocking to the platform. The number of monthly active users grew 121%, although the average revenue per paying monthly active user slipped by about 12%.</p><p>Mobile gaming is the fastest-growing segment of the gaming industry. It's already a $68 billion business, and the market is expected to climb to $150 billion by 2025. Wood is no doubt keenly aware of the growing market opportunity, as Skillz is a Top 20 holding of the ARK Next Generation Internet ETF, at 1.75% of the $5.27 billion in funds under management. With Skillz's market cap of just $7 billion, it isn't hard to foresee a path for the stock to increase by 10 times its current value.</p><p><img src=\"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a6757c78c75e17af9f7503156bd95297\" tg-width=\"729\" tg-height=\"492\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer\"></p><p><b>The fine print</b></p><p>For any of these stocks to become 10-baggers, a lot will have to go right, and plenty could still go wrong to trip them up. Simply put, these nascent businesses have a lot to prove if they want to make the grade over the long term. That said, and given the potential for outsize gains, it isn't surprising that Cathie Wood is increasing ARK's exposure to thesenascent companies. As the preceding chart illustrates, they've also become caught up in the broader sell-off that has plagued tech stocks since early February, making them relative bargains by comparison.</p><p>It's also important to note that none of these companies is yet profitable, and while they're cheaper than they were, they still carry a frothy sticker price -- at least in terms of traditional valuation metrics. The founder and CEO of ARK Investment Management proved her mettle when her five flagshipexchange-traded funds(ETFs) each grew by more than 100% last year, beating the broader markets by a country mile.In recent weeks, Wall Street has temporarilysoured on high-growth equities, pushing the tech-heavyNasdaqinto correction territory. That hasn't stopped Wood from picking up technology stocks that could deliver game-changing results and eventually find themselves in the exclusive 10-bagger club.Schrodinger: Providing a speedier path to new drug discoveryUnless you work in the biopharmaceutical industry, you've probably never heard ofSchrodinger(NASDAQ:SDGR). The company provides a platform that helps biopharmaceutical companies discover new treatments more quickly than traditional methods. The company'ssoftware-as-a-serviceplatform, which incorporates physics, data analytics, predictive analysis, and artificial intelligence, performs state-of-the-art simulations that lead to quicker and cheaper drug development and the discovery of novel treatment options.Backed by Bill Gates, Schrodinger went public early last year, and the small company has had an impressive start. In 2020, revenue grew 26% year over year, driven by software revenue that increased 39%. Gross profit grew 29%, which helps illustrate the scalability of the company's model, though it's currently still unprofitable.Its customer metrics are equally impressive. Last year, the number of customers with $1,000 in annual contract value (ACV) grew 16%, while those with ACV of $100,000 grew at 17%. More importantly, however, is that large customers with ACV of more than $1 million grew by 60%, and customer retention clocked in a 99%. With last week's purchases, the company has become a Top 20 position, representing nearly 2% of the $7.67 billion in assets under management.Schrodinger is sitting in the catbird seat, at the heart of the digital transformation of drug discovery, and with a market cap of just $5 billion, it's easy to envision a path where Schrödinger could grow tenfold.Opendoor Technologies: Embracing the changing face of real estateThe real estate industry is also in the midst of a paradigm shift, as it embraces a digital transformation. For example,Opendoor Technologies(NASDAQ:OPEN)developed an app-based platform that makes buying and selling a home a cinch. Homeowners can sell their property directly to Opendoor, which will then renovate and sell the home at a profit, or they can choose to sell to other buyers, all for a flat fee of 5% of the home's value. By eliminating the need for the traditional real estate agent, the company is carving out a growing and profitable niche for itself. Opendoor drew the attention of special-purpose acquisition company pioneer Chamath Palihapitiya's Social Capital Hedosophia Holdings, which brought Opendoor public late last year.Like many real estate companies, Opendoor was initially hit by the pandemic, but it's staging a comeback. While revenue slipped 46% year over year, the company's gross profit margin grew to 8.5% of sales, up from 6.4%. The pandemic-driven housing boom should help Opendoor further scale its business. The company was still unprofitable in 2020, but it cut its net loss by 15%.ARK Next Generation Internet(NYSEMKT:ARKW)ETF andARK Fintech Innovation(NYSEMKT:ARKF)both scooped up shares of Opendoor last week. The company is a significant holding for both funds, representing 2.32% and 2.83%, respectively, of the funds' holdings. The digital revolution is still in the early stages in the real estate industry, and with a market cap of just $13 billion, Opendoor could eventually be a 10-bagger from here.Skillz: A mobile gaming powerhouseSkillz(NYSE:SKLZ)is a relative newcomer to the gaming industry, but it has carved out a growing niche for itself in the area of mobile gaming and esports. The company's platform can turn virtually any mobile game into a competition, where players can accumulate points or compete for cash and prizes. Mobile games have found a large and growing audience over the past year, helping fuel Skillz's popularity.For the year ended Dec. 31, revenue grew 92% year over year, while gross profit increased by 91%. The company's net loss worsened by 408%, as Skillz races to add new users. The company has determined that the lifetime value of new members far outstrips the cost of adding them now. This will no doubt increase the leverage of its platform, helping multiply future profits. The strategy is working as new players are flocking to the platform. The number of monthly active users grew 121%, although the average revenue per paying monthly active user slipped by about 12%.Mobile gaming is the fastest-growing segment of the gaming industry. It's already a $68 billion business, and the market is expected to climb to $150 billion by 2025. Wood is no doubt keenly aware of the growing market opportunity, as Skillz is a Top 20 holding of the ARK Next Generation Internet ETF, at 1.75% of the $5.27 billion in funds under management. With Skillz's market cap of just $7 billion, it isn't hard to foresee a path for the stock to increase by 10 times its current value.The fine printFor any of these stocks to become 10-baggers, a lot will have to go right, and plenty could still go wrong to trip them up. Simply put, these nascent businesses have a lot to prove if they want to make the grade over the long term. That said, and given the potential for outsize gains, it isn't surprising that Cathie Wood is increasing ARK's exposure to thesenascent companies.
