reported strong Q2 results, led by strong growth at AWS and great operational efficiency in its e-commerce business.Investors were disappointed with its outlook, as investments will weigh on its profitability. The stock has historically performed well when Amazon invests heavily. While Amazon crushed second-quarter earnings expectations, the company's cautious outlook sent shares spiraling lower. The drop sent the shares into negative territory on the year, as of this writing.Let's take a closer look at the e-commerce giant's latest results and guidance to see if this dip is a buying opportunity or if investors should run for the hills.Outlook spooks investorsAmazon's cloud computing business, Amazon Web Services (AWS), is the company's largest segment by profitability and its fastest-growing. In the quarter, the segment grew its revenue by 17.5% to $30.9 billion, while operating income rose 10% to $10.2 billion. That was above the $30.8 billion revenue consensus, as compiled by StreetAccount, but trailed the growth of Microsoft's Azure and Alphabet's Google cloud.Amazon continues to be the market share leader in the cloud computing space and is investing heavily there. However, like others in the space, it is seeing constraints with demand exceeding capacity. Meanwhile, the company highlighted its custom artificial intelligence (AI) chips as having an edge in price performance.Amazon is leaning into the next wave of AI innovation: AI agents. While interest in AI agents is surging, many companies either lack the tools to build them or struggle to safely deploy them in production. To address that, Amazon introduced Strands -- an open-source framework for building AI agents -- and Agentcore, a secure, serverless environment to run them at scale. It's also rolling out AWS Transform, a specialized AI agent designed to help customers modernize legacy systems like mainframes and accelerate cloud migrations. On the consumer side of its business, Amazon's North America sales jumped 11% to $100.1 billion, while international sales climbed 16%, or 11% in constant currencies, to $36.8 billion. Operating income for its North America segment surged 47% to $7.5 billion, while its international segment posted operating income of $1.5 billion versus $0.3 billion a year ago.Advertising services continue to be a growth driver, as revenue soared 23% to $15.7 billion, driven by its sponsored ad business. That was ahead of the $14.9 billion analyst consensus, as compiled by StreetAccount.Third-party seller services revenue rose by 11% to $40.3 billion, while online store revenue climbed by 11% to $61.5 billion. Physical stores, such as Whole Foods and Amazon Fresh, saw sales grow by 7% to $5.6 billion. Subscription services revenue, meanwhile, jumped 12% to $12.2 billion.Overall, Amazon's revenue climbed by 13% to $167.7 billion, which came in well above the $162.1 billion analyst consensus, as compiled by London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG). Adjusted earnings per share climbed 33% to $1.68, which was also well ahead of analyst expectations of $1.33.Looking ahead, Amazon forecast Q3 revenue to be between $174 billion and $179.5 billion, representing 10% to 13% growth. Meanwhile, it guided for operating income to be between $15.5 billion to $20.5 billion compared to $17.4 billion a year ago. Analysts were looking for operating income of $19.5 billion (StreetAccount) on revenue of $173.1 billion (LSEG).Image source: Getty Images.Should investors buy the dip?Amazon has been nicely growing its revenue, led by AWS and its sponsored ad business. However, a just as important -- if not more important -- part of the story has been the operational efficiency it has seen in its e-commerce business. That showed up in Q2 via its e-commerce operating income, but investors were disappointed with its operating income guidance. The company is investing heavily in AI infrastructure for AWS, which is leading to some higher depreciation costs. At the end of the day, this investment is needed and will benefit the company, although it will weigh on profitability in the near term.Turning to valuation, the stock trades at a forward price-to-earnings ratio of about 34 times 2025 analyst estimates and 29 times 2026 estimates. That's a historically attractive valuation for the stock, and Amazon has often performed well when it invests heavily. As such, I'd use this pullback as a buying opportunity.","news_type":1,"symbols_score_info":{"AMZN":1.1}},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2240,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":464362382549504,"gmtCreate":1754380282716,"gmtModify":1754380285738,"author":{"id":"3572930145910159","authorId":"3572930145910159","name":"Shock73","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/572c21c9206df761e27d1cdddadefb8f","crmLevel":11,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3572930145910159","authorIdStr":"3572930145910159"},"themes":[],"title":"","htmlText":"W","listText":"W","text":"W","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/464362382549504","repostId":"2556918802","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"2556918802","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1754376505,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2556918802?lang=en_US&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2025-08-05 14:48","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Is the Dip in Amazon Stock a Buying Opportunity, or Should Investors Run for the Hills?","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2556918802","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Amazon's outlook weighed on the stock.","content":"
\n
Amazon reported strong Q2 results, led by strong growth at AWS and great operational efficiency in its e-commerce business.Investors were disappointed with its outlook, as investments will weigh on ...
\n\nSource Link\n\n
\n","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; The drop sent the shares into negative territory on the year, as of this writing.Let's take a closer look at the e-commerce giant's latest results and guidance to see if this dip is a buying opportunity or if investors should run for the hills.Outlook spooks investorsAmazon's cloud computing business, Amazon Web Services (AWS), is the company's largest segment by profitability and its fastest-growing. Supply chain constraints weighed heavily on Xylem during 2022 but these are now easing and should allow the M&CS business to become an earnings tailwind during fiscal 2023, Radbourne tells investors in a research note.

Benchmark analyst Fawne Jiang upgraded Tencent Music(TME) to Buy from Hold with a $7 price target post third quarter results. The analyst cites "structural" margin improvement of the music segment, the fundamental turnaround of its ad and digital album businesses, and its effective cost saving.

Wells Fargo analyst Stephen Baxter upgraded Oscar Health(OSCR) to Overweight from Equal Weight with a price target of $4, down from $8.50. While the range of outcomes remains wide, the analyst believes risk/reward skews to the upside following significant year-to-date underperformance.

Goldman Sachs analyst Alex Scott upgraded Lincoln National(LNC) to Buy from Neutral with a price target of $46, down from $50. The company should be able to rebuild its capital base and display its "relatively strong" underlying capital generation faster than investors are expecting, Scott tells investors in a research note.

Daiwa analyst Carlton Lai upgraded Huya(HUYA) to Buy from Outperform with a price target of $3.60, down from $4 post third quarter results. Huya will report a large loss in Q4, but "things will improve in 2023," Lai tells investors in a research note.

Top 5 Downgrades:

UBS analyst Michael Lasser downgraded Advance Auto Parts(AAP) to Neutral from Buy with a price target of $182, down from $230 after its Q3 earnings miss. It is becoming more difficult to defend the stock as the company is losing market share with another 0.7% decline in comps, the analyst tells investors in a research note.

Credit Suisse analyst Chris Caso downgraded Texas Instruments(TXN) to Neutral from Outperform with a price target of $205, up from $185, after assuming coverage of the name. While all semis are likely to endure some degree of correction in 2023, Texas Instruments' large exposure to industrial makes it very challenging to identify the "real" level of demand, since the significant shortages that occurred over the last year gave customers every incentive to have built inventory where they could, Caso argues.

Argus analyst Kevin Heal downgraded Rocket Companies(RKT) to Sell from Hold. The analyst cites the company's position as the second largest U.S. mortgage originator with approximately 5% of the overall market, noting that as mortgage rates have recently risen to 7%, origination volumes are expected to drop 50% from 2021 levels, with further declines expected in 2023.

Deutsche Bank analyst Pito Chickering downgraded Medtronic(MDT) to Hold from Buy with a price target of $85, down from $121. The company has had a challenging 12 months, with several product issues in Q4 of 2021 followed by macro headwinds impacting earnings growth in fiscal 2023, Chickering tells investors in a research note.

Citi analyst Brian Gong downgraded Huya to Sell from Neutral with a price target of $3, down from $4, after the company reported Q3 results. Though Huya is likely to continue to optimize costs to improve margin over the long-term, he has turned more cautious given that the eSports industry could face "a structurally more challenging growth outlook with limited headroom for user growth and monetization potential."

Top 5 Initiations:

Credit Suisse analyst Chris Caso initiated coverage of Micron Technology(MU) with an Outperform rating and $78 price target, implying 25% upside potential from current levels. The analyst thinks long-term DRAM and NAND industry growth is intact.

Credit Suisse analyst Chris Caso initiated coverage of Qualcomm(QCOM) with an Outperform rating and $150 price target. Qualcomm has more short-term security than others in the group since Android has already corrected and the company is shipping below consumption, Caso says.

Credit Suisse analyst Chris Caso initiated coverage of Qorvo(QRVO) with an Outperform rating and $120 price target. Supply chain constraints weighed heavily on Xylem during 2022 but these are now easing and should allow the M&CS business to become an earnings tailwind during fiscal 2023, Radbourne tells investors in a research note.Benchmark analyst Fawne Jiang upgraded Tencent Music(TME) to Buy from Hold with a $7 price target post third quarter results. The analyst cites \"structural\" margin improvement of the music segment, the fundamental turnaround of its ad and digital album businesses, and its effective cost saving.Wells Fargo analyst Stephen Baxter upgraded Oscar Health(OSCR) to Overweight from Equal Weight with a price target of $4, down from $8.50. While the range of outcomes remains wide, the analyst believes risk/reward skews to the upside following significant year-to-date underperformance.Goldman Sachs analyst Alex Scott upgraded Lincoln National(LNC) to Buy from Neutral with a price target of $46, down from $50. The company should be able to rebuild its capital base and display its \"relatively strong\" underlying capital generation faster than investors are expecting, Scott tells investors in a research note.Daiwa analyst Carlton Lai upgraded Huya(HUYA) to Buy from Outperform with a price target of $3.60, down from $4 post third quarter results. Huya will report a large loss in Q4, but \"things will improve in 2023,\" Lai tells investors in a research note.Top 5 Downgrades:UBS analyst Michael Lasser downgraded Advance Auto Parts(AAP) to Neutral from Buy with a price target of $182, down from $230 after its Q3 earnings miss. It is becoming more difficult to defend the stock as the company is losing market share with another 0.7% decline in comps, the analyst tells investors in a research note.Credit Suisse analyst Chris Caso downgraded Texas Instruments(TXN) to Neutral from Outperform with a price target of $205, up from $185, after assuming coverage of the name. While all semis are likely to endure some degree of correction in 2023, Texas Instruments' large exposure to industrial makes it very challenging to identify the \"real\" level of demand, since the significant shortages that occurred over the last year gave customers every incentive to have built inventory where they could, Caso argues.Argus analyst Kevin Heal downgraded Rocket Companies(RKT) to Sell from Hold. The analyst cites the company's position as the second largest U.S. mortgage originator with approximately 5% of the overall market, noting that as mortgage rates have recently risen to 7%, origination volumes are expected to drop 50% from 2021 levels, with further declines expected in 2023.Deutsche Bank analyst Pito Chickering downgraded Medtronic(MDT) to Hold from Buy with a price target of $85, down from $121. The company has had a challenging 12 months, with several product issues in Q4 of 2021 followed by macro headwinds impacting earnings growth in fiscal 2023, Chickering tells investors in a research note.Citi analyst Brian Gong downgraded Huya to Sell from Neutral with a price target of $3, down from $4, after the company reported Q3 results. Though Huya is likely to continue to optimize costs to improve margin over the long-term, he has turned more cautious given that the eSports industry could face \"a structurally more challenging growth outlook with limited headroom for user growth and monetization potential.\"Top 5 Initiations:Credit Suisse analyst Chris Caso initiated coverage of Micron Technology(MU) with an Outperform rating and $78 price target, implying 25% upside potential from current levels. The analyst thinks long-term DRAM and NAND industry growth is intact.Credit Suisse analyst Chris Caso initiated coverage of Qualcomm(QCOM) with an Outperform rating and $150 price target. Qualcomm has more short-term security than others in the group since Android has already corrected and the company is shipping below consumption, Caso says.Credit Suisse analyst Chris Caso initiated coverage of Qorvo(QRVO) with an Outperform rating and $120 price target. Qorvo has cyclical exposure to handsets along with increasing diversification into non-handset businesses that will provide higher growth, Caso tells investors.Edward Jones analyst Logan Purk initiated coverage of Synopsys(SNPS) with a Hold rating. The company will benefit from growing demand for semiconductors used in autonomous driving, 5G and artificial intelligence, but the positive outlook is fairly captured in the current share price, Purk tells investors in a research note.Needham analyst Charles Shi initiated coverage of Altair Engineering(ALTR) with a Buy rating and $60 price target. For investors who’ve long held positions in these equities, the correction is troublesome. Gains have been erased. Of course, one investor’s loss is often another’s gain — and right now is a strong time to pick up blue-chip stocks while they remain undervalued. These stocks are household names and trade with massive market capitalizations. They’re usually industry leaders and often the biggest player in their respective sectors. They boast dependable earnings, substantial operating histories and often pay dividends as well. With that said, let’s look at the best deals among undervalued blue-chip stocks to buy in June.MicronSource: Charles Knowles / Shutterstock.comMicron is a U.S.-based semiconductor company that often fails to garner as much attention as similar firms. That said, there’s plenty to appreciate about it. It makes DRAM, NAND, and NOR memory and storage technology, but is rarely mentioned alongside AMD or Nvidia. That said, MU stock is very much worth considering right now. High-level metrics clearly suggest there’s massive upside in it at current prices. The equity boasts an averagetarget stock priceof $111.45 but can be purchased for under $70 currently. The reason it’s worth considering is that MU stock is slated to grow as measured by net income while likely increasing its dividend. All the while, it remains cheap based on price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio.Its8.5x P/E ratiois well below the 19.16x average across the semiconductor industry. If you want bottom-line growth at a cheap price, Micron is absolutely worth picking up.AlcoaSource: Daniel J. Macy / Shutterstock.comAlcoa produces bauxite, alumina and aluminum products. Its business is mundane and by most standards, it isn’t likely to excite investors on that alone. However, the upside in AA stock should. It is trading lower over the past few weeks, but it hasn’t lost value overall in 2022. Yes, it possesses upside based on consensus analyst prices. Those estimates suggest a potential increase of nearly 50% at AA stock’s current price. The reason investors should believe share prices can rise quickly lies in the bottom-line growth predicted for the firm. In 2021, Alcoa’s $12.2 billion in revenue led to a net income of $429 million. In 2022, that revenue isanticipated to increaseby more than 18% to $14.4 billion. That’s nice enough growth, but what really should impress is the notion that Alcoa’s net income is expected to nearly quintuple at the same time. The company’s net income is expected to reach $2.1 billion in 2022.NutrienSource: Pavel Kapysh/ShutterStock.comIt’s hard to read about markets and not come across a headline about the increasing value of food production and cropland. They imply companies like Nutrien, which produces potash, nitrogen and phosphate, will have more importance moving forward.Increasing food production will require more land under cultivation, which in turn requires more fertilizer use that includes the products Nutrien produces. That’s the underlying macroeconomic argument that favors the company. The fundamental argument that favors NTR stock is its valuation relative to its peers. The firm’s 13x P/E ratio is slightly lower than the industry median of 15.1x. That is wildly lower than its industry, which is a positive. Stocks that are severely undervalued often suffer due to factors outside of what their fundamentals can explain. In other words, Nutrien is not a value trap. The company is growing following recordfirst-quarter earningsof $1.4 billion. Both revenue and profit are expected to continue to surge as the Canadian firm responds to fill the void created by the ongoing war in Ukraine.American International GroupSource: Evan El-Amin / ShutterstockThe insurance industry is not an exciting business. Therefore, it is to be expected that insurance stocks carry low valuation metrics. That said,AIG(NYSE:AIG) stands out among its peers in terms of value. The stock’s P/E ratio of 5.8x is roughly half that of the industry overall, which sits at 10.7x. That doesn’t tell us much, because the market could simply prefer an average insurance firm to AIG. If that were the case, then its much lower valuation wouldn’t be an opportunity. But it is an opportunity because AIG stock’s median P/E ratio over the last 10 years is 9.85x. That strongly implies once we exit the current market — whenever that may be — then AIG stock should fare much, much better. When that capital returns, share prices will rise. Until then, current investors also have a modest and reliable dividend yielding 2.3% to look forward to.3MSource: r.classen / Shutterstock.com3M produces a lot of products — in fact, more than 60,000of them. So it’s almost inevitable that you’ve used one or more of them in the past. But it isn’t the breadth of product offerings that makes MMM stock interesting to value investors as much as current prices.3M shares began 2022 trading around $180. However, they’ve fallen to a range between $140 and $150 as of early February. They’ve since struggled to escape that range. But there’s reason to remain enthusiastic about the firm’s prospects. For one, it has exceeded analyst expectations in each of the past four quarters and provided earnings beats. And each of those four quarters has exceeded the high points of analyst ranges.Onevaluationsuggests MMM stock should trade at $186.80 based on several historic multiples.MicrosoftSource: The Art of Pics / Shutterstock.comWhen 2022 began, Microsoft stock was trading at $335. That wasn’t far from its target stock price of $360. So it would have been much harder to proffer the idea that there was massive upside in it back then. That was also before inflation was the dominant issue it now is, and the tech wreck hadn’t yet done much damage. Fast forward a few months and the story is vastly different. Microsoft shares trade near $250. However, analysts remain steadfast, with the overwhelming majority rating it a buy.Microsoft continues to perform amazingly well, though. Its most recentearningsshowed that revenues increased 18%, reaching $49.4 billion in the quarter. I could go on and on about Microsoft’s impressive results, but the point is that when the market offers MSFT stock cheap, buying just makes sense.PfizerSource: photobyphm / Shutterstock.comPfizer received a modest bump on May 20 when it was announced that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) hadcleared its boosterfor use in children ages 5 to 11. While that news indicates a new revenue stream for the company, its prospects moving forward are less about Covid-19 vaccines and more about leveraging the proceeds from that business.Investors believe Pfizer is losing its sheen as the pandemic enters its later stages. PFE stock has lost about 5% of its value year-to-date. But it was one of the winners in the race to develop a vaccine for Covid-19.
