By paying attention to fundamentals and ensuring you aren't holding any stocks that are wildly overvalued, you can reduce your risk.</p>\n<p>Three stocks I would consider selling today are <b>Shockwave Medical </b>(NASDAQ:SWAV),&nbsp;<b>Peloton&nbsp;</b>(NASDAQ:PTON), and <b>Snap&nbsp;</b>(NYSE:SNAP). Shockwave Medical</h3>\n<p><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/HCSG\">Healthcare</a> company Shockwave Medical uses shockwaves to break up calcium deposits. The company's catheters can help in situations where blood flow is restricted. And earlier this year, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) gave the company's shockwave pressure wave therapy the green light to treat advanced heart disease. It's an exciting opportunity for the business, because experts say calcification can present a serious obstacle for physicians when doing angioplasty procedures -- <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a> that current tools may not be able to overcome.</p>\n<p>But despite the potential growth opportunities ahead for the business, the stock may just be too expensive of a buy right now. For the first three months of 2021, sales of $31.9 million weren't even enough to cover the company's operating expenses of $41.5 million. While the year-over-year revenue growth of 110% was impressive, it's still hard to justify the $6.4 billion valuation, which puts Shockwave Medical's stock at a price-to-sales (P/S) multiple of more than 73. By comparison, the average stock in the <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/ARKK\">ARK Innovation ETF</a></b> trades at just 11 times its revenue, and those are holdings that possess high growth potential.</p>\n<p>Unless you are willing to hold Shockwave Medical for the very long term, a safer bet may be to leave it on a watchlist for now and wait for it to fall in price. In the meantime, there are plenty of other value buys that may be safer to hold right now.</p>\n<h3>2. Peloton</h3>\n<p>Peloton was a popular stay-at-home stock for investors to hold during the pandemic, as consumers weren't able to visit the gym and instead opted for the company's bikes and treadmills. But bad press (involving a recall after a treadmill accident led to the death of a child) combined with investors' general move toward stocks that will do well upon reopenings to leave Peloton's stock in a tailspin; year to date, its shares are down more than 22% while the S&amp;P 500 has risen by 17%.</p>\n<p>However, even with the decline in share price, the stock is still incredibly expensive given the business' underwhelming numbers. While Peloton is profitable, its profit margin over the trailing 12 months is just less than 6%, and two of the past five quarters have been in the red. Its price-to-earnings multiple is more than 140, which is obscene by any comparison. And with a P/S multiple of 10, it's not terribly cheap on that metric, either.</p>\n<p>My concern is that the company's growth rate could start to decline as people go back to gyms, and that could make staying out of the red a challenge in future quarters. Workers are also quitting their jobs at record levels, and that could put those consumers' finances in disarray, at least in the short term. The loss of a job (voluntary or not) could make buying a $1,000-plus bike just not that much of a priority anymore -- and it may not look nearly as affordable.</p>\n<p>Unless you have an incredibly rosy outlook for Peloton (which I don't), there's simply not much of a reason to buy the stock at its hefty valuation.</p>\n<h3>3. Snap</h3>\n<p>Snap is coming off a great second quarter in which it continued to do well even amid reopenings. The social media company behind Snapchat reported that its daily active users topped 293 million, up 23% year over year. Its revenue for the period ending June 30 totaled $982 million, more than double the $454 million that Snap reported a year ago, thanks largely to enhancements to its augmented reality platform. Its net loss of $152 million was also cut in half. Snap projects that its revenue will rise next quarter as well, but at a more modest rate between 58% and 60%.</p>\n<p>The company is doing many things well, and solid user growth in this period -- when people have been less glued to their phones than during lockdowns -- is an impressive feat. But with Snap's stock rising more than 230% over the past year (the S&amp;P 500 is up just 35%), its valuation has gotten out of control. Today, Snap trades at a P/S multiple of 33, well above the average stock in the <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/XLK\">Technology Select Sector SPDR Fund</a></b>, where the P/S average is less than 7.</p>\n<p>The stock certainly has potential if it can keep adding users and driving this level of revenue growth, but even management is forecasting some softness ahead in its top line. It wasn't until the pandemic that shares of Snap really took off, and there's no doubt the company benefited from stay-at-home trends. By paying attention to fundamentals and ensuring you aren't holding any stocks that are wildly overvalued, you can reduce your risk.\nThree stocks I would consider selling today are Shockwave Medical (NASDAQ:SWAV), Peloton (NASDAQ:PTON), and Snap (NYSE:SNAP). While they've all done well over the past 12 months and have outperformed the S&P 500, there could be tougher times ahead for these companies.\n\nImage source: Getty Images.\n1. Shockwave Medical\nHealthcare company Shockwave Medical uses shockwaves to break up calcium deposits. The company's catheters can help in situations where blood flow is restricted. And earlier this year, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) gave the company's shockwave pressure wave therapy the green light to treat advanced heart disease. It's an exciting opportunity for the business, because experts say calcification can present a serious obstacle for physicians when doing angioplasty procedures -- one that current tools may not be able to overcome.\nBut despite the potential growth opportunities ahead for the business, the stock may just be too expensive of a buy right now. For the first three months of 2021, sales of $31.9 million weren't even enough to cover the company's operating expenses of $41.5 million. While the year-over-year revenue growth of 110% was impressive, it's still hard to justify the $6.4 billion valuation, which puts Shockwave Medical's stock at a price-to-sales (P/S) multiple of more than 73. By comparison, the average stock in the ARK Innovation ETF trades at just 11 times its revenue, and those are holdings that possess high growth potential.\nUnless you are willing to hold Shockwave Medical for the very long term, a safer bet may be to leave it on a watchlist for now and wait for it to fall in price. In the meantime, there are plenty of other value buys that may be safer to hold right now.\n2. Peloton\nPeloton was a popular stay-at-home stock for investors to hold during the pandemic, as consumers weren't able to visit the gym and instead opted for the company's bikes and treadmills. But bad press (involving a recall after a treadmill accident led to the death of a child) combined with investors' general move toward stocks that will do well upon reopenings to leave Peloton's stock in a tailspin; year to date, its shares are down more than 22% while the S&P 500 has risen by 17%.\nHowever, even with the decline in share price, the stock is still incredibly expensive given the business' underwhelming numbers. While Peloton is profitable, its profit margin over the trailing 12 months is just less than 6%, and two of the past five quarters have been in the red. Its price-to-earnings multiple is more than 140, which is obscene by any comparison. Believe me, it was possible to do so. But the underwriters and the management chose not to do so. We don't know which side screwed up, or both, but there was a successful blueprint; believe me, if I knew what it was in 1999, they knew what it is now.</p>\n<p>I always regretted what happened. Most people blamed me as I was the face of the process. I was astounded by how horrendous it was and did not \"take the long view\" because the long view sucked.</p>\n<p>Why do these things go wrong? The calendar includes companies in sectors such as consumer staples, insurance, pharma, travel and media. FromBooking HoldingstoViacomCBS,WayfairandKellogg, investors will be watching to see what companies say about reopening activity, supply chain disruptions and rising costs.\n“I think as much as 85% of the companies which are reporting earnings mentioned inflation on their earnings calls,” Franklin Templeton Fixed Income chief investment officer Sonal Desai said. “Inflation may not be a problem to policymakers and financial markets, which seem not to be concerned at all. It does seem to bother the people who have to buy stuff or people who produce stuff.”\nThe jobs factor\nThe Federal Reserve has said the sharp jump in inflation is just temporary, and many investors appear to be taking it in stride for now. The market is intensely focused on the central bank's other mandate: the labor market. Fed Chairman Jerome Powellsaid Wednesdayhe would like to seestrong jobs reportsbefore winding down the central bank's $120 billion a month bond-buying program.\nThe U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics will release theJuly employment reporton the morning of Friday, Aug. 6. It's expected to show 788,000 nonfarm payrolls, down from 850,000 in June, according to Dow Jones. The unemployment rate is expected to dip to 5.7% from 5.9%. Average hourly wages are expected to rise 3.9% year over year.\nIronsides Macroeconomics director of research Barry Knapp said he expects the next two monthly jobs reports will be strong, and the Fed should then be ready to announce in September that it is ready to start the slow unwind of its bond purchasing program.\nThat is an important step since it would be the first real move away from the central bank’s easy policies that were put in place in the pandemic. It would also mean the Fed would be open to raising interest rates once the tapering is completed.\n\nGame changer for markets\n\"Friday could be a game changer,\" Knapp said of the employment report. Before that, he expects stocks to trade in a narrow range.\nIf the number of jobs added in July is much higher than expected, at more than 1 million, Knapp said the market could immediately sell off on the idea the Fed would be ready to pare back its bond purchases.\nIf the number is weaker than expected, the market could rally. \"We are in a dead period after earnings, with concerns about the pace of the reopening. It's still a bit of a question mark. The bias would be higher after a weak number. ... Bad is good. Good is bad,\" said Knapp.\nLike some other strategists, he expects tosee a stock market correction,possibly later this summer.\n“I’m in the camp where I think we’re going to have our first major correction.” Knapp said. “What we’re likely to get is at least 10% or more. ... It could really happen when they [Fed officials] make the announcement in September.”\nWilmington Trust chief economist Luke Tilley said he expects just 350,000 jobs, based on the high frequency data he watches.\n“We think the run rate is about 500,000 jobs. Last month seems a little bit overcooked,” he said.\nReflation trade\nTheS&P 500was down 0.4% in the past week, finishing at 4,395, while the Nasdaq lost even more , down 1.1% at 14,672.\nCyclical stocks were among the best performers. Materials jumped 2.8% in the week, and energy shares were up 1.6%. Financials gained 0.7%. Officials were particularly upset withDidi Globalwhichreportedly went public even after being warned not toby Beijing.\nChinese regulators reportedly spoke with international banksafter their actions sparked a wave of selling in internet stocks and the broader Chinese stock market. The regulators saidcompanies could continue to go publicin the U.S. if they met listing requirements.\n“We will continue to see regulators try to calm the waters. I would say this was a communications misstep,” said Franklin Templeton’s Desai. “You don’t have massive swings without having negative impact.” She added it sent ripples through emerging markets.\n“This is China trying to gain control, and they tried to do it in a very heavy way, and they were surprised at the backlash,” Desai said.\nTheKraneShares CSI China Internet ETFhas lost about half its value from its peak in February, and was down another 2.6% Friday.\nInternet retailerAlibabais one of the ETF’s top holdings. biggest ever&nbsp;European Union&nbsp;fine for a data privacy breach as its lead watchdog hit it with a 746 million-euro ($888 million) penalty for violating the bloc’s tough data protection rules.</p>\n<p>Shares of other technology behemoths, including Netflix Inc, Google-parent Alphabet Inc, and Facebook Inc, which benefited last year from people staying indoors due to COVID-19 restrictions, fell between 0.6% and 1.2%.</p>\n<p><b>Stocks making the biggest moves premarket:</b></p>\n<p><b>Amazon(AMZN)</b> – Amazon shares fell 6.9% in the premarket after it missed Wall Street revenue estimates for the first time since the third quarter of 2018. It did, however, report a quarterly profit of $15.12 per share, which beat the consensus estimate of $12.30.</p>\n<p><b>Pinterest(PINS) </b>– Pinterest stock was hammered 20.4% in premarket trading after the image-sharing website operator reported a quarterly decline in monthly average users. Pinterest had seen usage surge during the pandemic as people remained at home and spent more time in front of their computers. Pinterest did, however, beat analyst estimates for both profit and revenue for its latest quarter.</p>\n<p><b>Exxon Mobil(XOM)</b> – Exxon Mobil earned $1.10 per share for the second quarter, 11 cents above estimates, while revenue also beat Wall Street forecasts. Exxon benefited from an improved cost structure and better market conditions.Exxon Mobil shares rose 0.8% in the premarket.</p>\n<p><b>T-Mobile US(TMUS)</b> – T-Mobile reported quarterly earnings of 78 cents per share, 25 cents higher than Street forecasts, while the mobile service provider also saw revenue beat estimates. Higher demand for 5G devices and services helped boost its subscriber numbers.The&nbsp;shares&nbsp;fell&nbsp;1.1%&nbsp;in premarket trading.</p>\n<p><b>Gilead Sciences(GILD)</b> – Gilead came in 14 cents ahead of estimates with an adjusted quarterly profit of $1.87 per share, while the drug maker’s revenue exceeded estimates as well. However, sales of Gilead’s flagship HIV drugs fell 1.6% during the quarter, and the stock lost 1.5% in premarket trading.</p>\n<p><b>Chevron(CVX)</b> – Chevron rose 1.4% in premarket trading after it beat estimates by 12 cents with adjusted quarterly earnings of $1.71 per share. Revenue beat estimates as well, as oil prices rose and market conditions improved.</p>\n<p><b>Procter &amp; Gamble(PG)</b> – The consumer products giant rose 1.3% in the premarket after it beat estimates by 5 cents with quarterly earnings of $1.13, while revenue beat forecasts as well. P&amp;G did warn of continuing inflation pressures as input costs rise. Separately, CEO David Taylor will step down in November after a 6-year run, to be replaced by Chief Operating Officer Jon Moeller. Taylor will become executive chairman.</p>\n<p><b>Caterpillar(CAT)</b> – Caterpillar fell 2.2% in the premarket, despite reporting better-than-expected profit and revenue in the second quarter. Caterpillar beat estimates by 20 cents with adjusted quarterly earnings of $2.60 per share, helped by a recovering global economy.</p>\n<p><b>Capri Holdings(CPRI) </b>– The company behind the Michael Kors and Versace luxury brands earned an adjusted $1.42 per share for its latest quarter, well above the 80 cent consensus estimate. Revenue also exceeded forecasts and Capri raised its annual outlook for the second time this year. The stock jumped 9.8% in premarket action.</p>\n<p><b>Restaurant Brands(QSR)</b> – The parent of Tim Hortons, Popeyes and Burger King reported adjusted quarterly earnings of 77 cents per share, 51 cents above estimates, and revenue also came in above Wall Street forecasts. It did, however, report a quarterly profit of $15.12 per share, which beat the consensus estimate of $12.30.</p>\n<p><b>Pinterest(PINS) </b>– Pinterest stock was hammered 20.4% in premarket trading after the image-sharing website operator reported a quarterly decline in monthly average users. Pinterest had seen usage surge during the pandemic as people remained at home and spent more time in front of their computers. Pinterest did, however, beat analyst estimates for both profit and revenue for its latest quarter.</p>\n<p><b>Exxon Mobil(XOM)</b> – Exxon Mobil earned $1.10 per share for the second quarter, 11 cents above estimates, while revenue also beat Wall Street forecasts. Exxon benefited from an improved cost structure and better market conditions.Exxon Mobil shares rose 0.8% in the premarket.</p>\n<p><b>T-Mobile US(TMUS)</b> – T-Mobile reported quarterly earnings of 78 cents per share, 25 cents higher than Street forecasts, while the mobile service provider also saw revenue beat estimates. Higher demand for 5G devices and services helped boost its subscriber numbers.The&nbsp;shares&nbsp;fell&nbsp;1.1%&nbsp;in premarket trading.</p>\n<p><b>Gilead Sciences(GILD)</b> – Gilead came in 14 cents ahead of estimates with an adjusted quarterly profit of $1.87 per share, while the drug maker’s revenue exceeded estimates as well. However, sales of Gilead’s flagship HIV drugs fell 1.6% during the quarter, and the stock lost 1.5% in premarket trading.</p>\n<p><b>Chevron(CVX)</b> – Chevron rose 1.4% in premarket trading after it beat estimates by 12 cents with adjusted quarterly earnings of $1.71 per share. Revenue beat estimates as well, as oil prices rose and market conditions improved.</p>\n<p><b>Procter &amp; Gamble(PG)</b> – The consumer products giant rose 1.3% in the premarket after it beat estimates by 5 cents with quarterly earnings of $1.13, while revenue beat forecasts as well. P&amp;G did warn of continuing inflation pressures as input costs rise. Separately, CEO David Taylor will step down in November after a 6-year run, to be replaced by Chief Operating Officer Jon Moeller. Taylor will become executive chairman.</p>\n<p><b>Caterpillar(CAT)</b> – Caterpillar fell 2.2% in the premarket, despite reporting better-than-expected profit and revenue in the second quarter. Caterpillar beat estimates by 20 cents with adjusted quarterly earnings of $2.60 per share, helped by a recovering global economy.</p>\n<p><b>Capri Holdings(CPRI) </b>– The company behind the Michael Kors and Versace luxury brands earned an adjusted $1.42 per share for its latest quarter, well above the 80 cent consensus estimate. Revenue also exceeded forecasts and Capri raised its annual outlook for the second time this year. The stock jumped 9.8% in premarket action.</p>\n<p><b>Restaurant Brands(QSR)</b> – The parent of Tim Hortons, Popeyes and Burger King reported adjusted quarterly earnings of 77 cents per share, 51 cents above estimates, and revenue also came in above Wall Street forecasts.
