The Wall Street consensus was closer to $1.80 a share. It's the sixth consecutive earnings \"beat\" for the company. \n</p>\n<p>\n     Investors appeared reasonably happy. Shares are up more than 5% in early treading Thursday, at about $780.50 a share. \n</p>\n<p>\n     Cowen analyst Jeffrey Osborne wasn't quite as impressed, noting in a report Wednesday evening that Tesla reported lower operating expenses and tax rate than he was expecting. Osborne would have preferred better gross margins. \n</p>\n<p>\n     What's more, he sees Tesla stock \"rangebound\" until investors have a better sense that production ramps at the new Berlin and Texas plants are going well. \n</p>\n<p>\n     Berenberg analyst Adrian Yanoshik addressed the production ramp in his post-earnings research report. He projects profit margin improvement in the third quarter as output at the new facilities moves higher. \n</p>\n<p>\n     Yanoshik also noted \"stabilized lead times\" for the Model Y. The issue of lead time has been a source of debate among investors and analysts. \n</p>\n<p>\n     Lengthening lead times, even as Tesla has raised prices roughly 25% to 30% so far in 2022, has been taken as a sign that demand for EVs, and Tesla's EVs, remains rock solid. Weakening or stabilized lead times could be a bad sign as the economy slows. \n</p>\n<p>\n     CEO Elon Musk addressed lead time on the company's conference call, noting that Tesla wants lower lead times. He also reiterated his belief that Tesla can sell all the cars it can make for the foreseeable future. Musk doesn't seem worried about demand. \n</p>\n<p>\n     RBC analyst Joseph Spak appeared to agree with Musk, writing Wednesday evening that he believes Tesla doesn't have a demand problem. Spak also was encouraged by increasing vehicle supply at Tesla's older plants. \n</p>\n<p>\n     Spak believes Tesla's plant in Fremont, Calif., can produce up to 650,000 vehicles a year, up from a prior estimate of 600,000. He sees the Shanghai facility able to produce about 750,000 units a year. Shanghai produced about 480,000 vehicles in 2021. \n</p>\n<p>\n     Both Yanoshik and Osborne rate Tesla shares at Hold. Osborne has a $733 price target on the stock. Yanoshik's price target is $833. \n</p>\n<p>\n     Spak rates shares a Buy. His price target is $1,100. Daiwa analyst Jairam Nathan also rates Tesla stock a Buy. His price target is $800. Nathan, like Spak, focused on production in his post-earnings report. \n</p>\n<p>\n     Tesla \"management is hopeful of exiting 2022 at close to 40,000 units/week of total production,\" wrote Nathan. That's works out to roughly 2 million vehicles a year, allowing some time for retooling and vacations. \n</p>\n<p>\n     Exiting the year at the 2 million unit run-rate would put Tesla on a path to grow volumes at 50% again in 2023. Still, weekly output would need to march higher over the course of 2023. Tesla is expected to deliver about 1.4 million units in 2022 -- 50% more than that is 2.1 million units. \n</p>\n<p>\n     Overall, 53% of analysts covering Tesla rate the stock a Buy. The average Buy-rating ratio for stocks in the S&amp;P 500 is about 58%. Meanwhile, these titles are now readily available for download at the same price, so gamers have little reason to leave their homes and travel to GameStop stores. The convenience factor is even more of an issue given the share of the younger gaming demographic -- especially those below 18 years of age -- who may not have the ability to drive to a retailer.</p><p>Between 2016 and 2019, GameStop&#39;s operating income fell from $653 million to $314 million. Then came the coronavirus pandemic, and in the nine months that ended Oct. 30, 2020, the company reported an operating loss of $202 million.</p><p>Now, it&#39;s true that management is taking steps to improve its performance. The company has permanently closed 449 stores since October 2020. GameStop had 4,816 locations as of February 2021 across the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Australia.</p><p>All of those locations create a high expense base that will leave the company reporting losses on the bottom line for several more quarters, at least. Fortunately for its shareholders, GameStop has $1.4 billion in cash on its balance sheet and only $44 million in long-term debt. Financially, it should have enough cushion to get it through its strategic pivot as it keeps closing locations and lowering expenses.</p><h2>The case for AMC</h2><p>AMC, too, was a troubled business even before the pandemic devastated its operations. Before 2020, the company had lost money in four of the previous nine years. Watching movies in theaters has become progressively less appealing to people as the rise of streaming services and rapid innovations in TV screen technology have made at-home viewing an increasingly attractive alternative.</p><p>Meanwhile, AMC didn&#39;t offer its guests much in the way of an improved experience, and it kept boosting prices on tickets and concessions. For example, in Los Angeles, a movie ticket, a bucket of popcorn, and a soda could set you back by $36. So it&#39;s little wonder customers are shunning the multiplex in favor of a <b>Netflix</b> subscription. And now, not only must AMC contend with increasingly strong substitute entertainment options, it must deal with the fact that pandemic-related fears are still depressing box office numbers, too.</p><p>For the first three quarters of 2021, AMC reported a net loss of $1.1 billion, an improvement from its loss of $3.6 billion during the same period of 2020. But unlike GameStop, which has a relatively clean balance sheet, AMC has $5.4 billion in long-term debt and only $1.6 billion in cash. With bargains popping up left and right, many investors might be wondering where to place some cash.</p><p>If an investor is deciding between high-quality stocks and cryptocurrency to buy on the dip, they might want to consider these three stocks over any cryptocurrency. The companies have been hit hard, yet each company is still operationally robust. Investments in these companies are much less speculative than any sort of cryptocurrency. Here&#39;s why I think <b>Upstart Holdings</b> (NASDAQ:UPST), <b>DigitalOcean Holdings</b> (NYSE:DOCN), and <b>Unity Software</b> (NYSE:U) would be better investments for the next decade than any cryptocurrency.</p><p class=\"t-img-caption\"><img src=\"https://g.foolcdn.com/image/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fg.foolcdn.com%2Feditorial%2Fimages%2F660198%2Fperson-cheering-looking-at-his-laptop.jpg&amp;w=700&amp;op=resize\" tg-width=\"700\" tg-height=\"465\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\"/><span>Image source: Getty Images.</span></p><h2>1. Upstart</h2><p>Upstart has fallen almost 70% off its all-time high, which can be painful for any investor. But it is important to recognize that nothing fundamentally has changed with the business, and the stock could have an extremely bright future over the next decade, potentially shooting past its former all-time highs.</p><p>Upstart is upending the traditional loan determination system by using artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze over 1,000 variables. Instead of basing a loan decision on a FICO score (which can often be inaccurate when it comes to those with lower credit scores), the platform looks at hundreds of other inputs that are potentially more accurate. In an internal study, Upstart found that its AI can approve 173% more people than traditional banks while keeping its loss rate the same. With such an accurate platform, its determinations have gained popularity with smaller banks around the country.</p><p>Upstart&#39;s client total is still small, but it is growing like wildfire. The company had just 31 banking partners by the end of the third quarter of 2021. Those partners generated over 363,000 loans, totaling $3.1 billion in loan volume -- 244% higher than the year-ago period, resulting in 250% top-line growth year over year in the third quarter.</p><p>The company is also profitable, generating $29 million in GAAP net income in the third quarter, up 199% year over year. This impressive ability to expand extremely fast while being profitable is almost unheard of in growth companies, especially those growing at triple-digit rates. As a result, the company trades at 17 times sales, which is high, but the lowest it has been since it came public in December 2020.</p><p>Upstart is disrupting a major part of the financial system, and it is seeing success so far. While it is a risky bet for the next decade, the company&#39;s impressive performance could give it much more credibility than any cryptocurrency. And if it succeeds, the growth potential is extremely large -- which is why I would invest in it before even thinking about crypto.</p><h2>2. DigitalOcean</h2><p>Like Upstart, DigitalOcean has been crushed lately, falling 12% in 2022 alone. But the company is seeing stunning success in the cloud space, focusing on cloud services for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). It has created a simple, transparent, and easy-to-use platform for SMBs that the big cloud providers like <b>Amazon</b>&#39;s (NASDAQ:AMZN) AWS haven&#39;t been able to replicate.</p><p>The SMB cloud space is expected to become a $116 billion market by 2024. DigitalOcean is dominating the cloud space, with almost 600,000 customers that have generated over $455 million in annual recurring revenue for the company. DigitalOcean is also almost break-even in terms of profitability. In Q3 2021 it lost just $1.9 million, which represents less than 2% of Q3 revenue. With over $29 million in free cash flow so far this year, its net loss is not a major concern.</p><p>The big tech companies focus mainly on enterprise customers, so AWS or <b>Microsoft</b>&#39;s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Azure are out of their realm when it comes to SMBs. Additionally, the space is simply not big enough for these multitrillion-dollar companies to make it worthwhile, allowing smaller companies like DigitalOcean to soak up the entire market. At 16 times sales, it is an appealing buy today, <a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/AONE.U\">one</a> with a large market and an established record that gives me confidence the company could dominate this niche for the next decade.</p><h2>3. Unity</h2><p>Following suit, Unity&#39;s stock has also been shattered recently. Shares hit a high in late November, but have crashed 40% since then. Yet the company hasn&#39;t lost any major customers and remains one of the most dominant places to go for developers to create, operate, and monetize their video games.</p><p>The company saw significant growth in its most recent quarter, increasing its top line by 43% year over year to $286 million. Unity has also made its monetization solutions more valuable with a partnership with <b><a href=\"https://laohu8.com/S/FB\">Meta Platforms</a></b> (NASDAQ:FB). While its net losses are large -- the company lost $115 million in Q3 2021 -- they have been decreasing. In the year-ago quarter, the company lost $142 million, so its loss of just $115 is a solid improvement. With its leadership in a fast-growing space, I would expect that this net loss will continue to trend in the right direction over the coming years.</p><p>The deal allows developers to have access to a new array of advertisers, maximizing the monetization of their games. This partnership will make Unity&#39;s game developers happier and more willing to work on Unity, likely resulting in higher retention of its developers.</p><p>Although Unity is more expensive than both Upstart and DigitalOcean, it is still a much better potential investment than cryptocurrency. Unity trades at 33 times sales, but deserves its high premium. It&#39;s a leader, with over 1.5 million active developers. Additionally, the company helped develop one of the world&#39;s most popular games, <i>Among Us</i>.</p><p>With such a record of success, Unity could continue growing along with the gaming industry, which is one of the fastest-growing media categories, worth over $159 billion. Not only does Unity have a more robust business than many cryptocurrencies, but its potential is also extremely large. Cryptocurrencies have also had a rough past few months, with Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) falling more than 35% from its all-time high. With bargains popping up left and right, many investors might be wondering where to place some cash.If an investor is deciding between high-quality stocks and cryptocurrency to buy on the dip, they might want to consider these three stocks over any cryptocurrency. The companies have been hit hard, yet each company is still operationally robust. Investments in these companies are much less speculative than any sort of cryptocurrency. Here's why I think Upstart Holdings (NASDAQ:UPST), DigitalOcean Holdings (NYSE:DOCN), and Unity Software (NYSE:U) would be better investments for the next decade than any cryptocurrency.Image source: Getty Images.1. UpstartUpstart has fallen almost 70% off its all-time high, which can be painful for any investor. But it is important to recognize that nothing fundamentally has changed with the business, and the stock could have an extremely bright future over the next decade, potentially shooting past its former all-time highs.Upstart is upending the traditional loan determination system by using artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze over 1,000 variables. Instead of basing a loan decision on a FICO score (which can often be inaccurate when it comes to those with lower credit scores), the platform looks at hundreds of other inputs that are potentially more accurate. In an internal study, Upstart found that its AI can approve 173% more people than traditional banks while keeping its loss rate the same. With such an accurate platform, its determinations have gained popularity with smaller banks around the country.Upstart's client total is still small, but it is growing like wildfire. The company had just 31 banking partners by the end of the third quarter of 2021. Those partners generated over 363,000 loans, totaling $3.1 billion in loan volume -- 244% higher than the year-ago period, resulting in 250% top-line growth year over year in the third quarter.The company is also profitable, generating $29 million in GAAP net income in the third quarter, up 199% year over year. This impressive ability to expand extremely fast while being profitable is almost unheard of in growth companies, especially those growing at triple-digit rates. As a result, the company trades at 17 times sales, which is high, but the lowest it has been since it came public in December 2020.Upstart is disrupting a major part of the financial system, and it is seeing success so far. While it is a risky bet for the next decade, the company's impressive performance could give it much more credibility than any cryptocurrency. And if it succeeds, the growth potential is extremely large -- which is why I would invest in it before even thinking about crypto.2. DigitalOceanLike Upstart, DigitalOcean has been crushed lately, falling 12% in 2022 alone. But the company is seeing stunning success in the cloud space, focusing on cloud services for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). It has created a simple, transparent, and easy-to-use platform for SMBs that the big cloud providers like Amazon's (NASDAQ:AMZN) AWS haven't been able to replicate.The SMB cloud space is expected to become a $116 billion market by 2024. DigitalOcean is dominating the cloud space, with almost 600,000 customers that have generated over $455 million in annual recurring revenue for the company. DigitalOcean is also almost break-even in terms of profitability. In Q3 2021 it lost just $1.9 million, which represents less than 2% of Q3 revenue. With over $29 million in free cash flow so far this year, its net loss is not a major concern.The big tech companies focus mainly on enterprise customers, so AWS or Microsoft's (NASDAQ:MSFT) Azure are out of their realm when it comes to SMBs. Additionally, the space is simply not big enough for these multitrillion-dollar companies to make it worthwhile, allowing smaller companies like DigitalOcean to soak up the entire market. At 16 times sales, it is an appealing buy today, one with a large market and an established record that gives me confidence the company could dominate this niche for the next decade.3. UnityFollowing suit, Unity's stock has also been shattered recently. Shares hit a high in late November, but have crashed 40% since then. Yet the company hasn't lost any major customers and remains one of the most dominant places to go for developers to create, operate, and monetize their video games.The company saw significant growth in its most recent quarter, increasing its top line by 43% year over year to $286 million. Unity has also made its monetization solutions more valuable with a partnership with Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:FB). While its net losses are large -- the company lost $115 million in Q3 2021 -- they have been decreasing. In the year-ago quarter, the company lost $142 million, so its loss of just $115 is a solid improvement. With its leadership in a fast-growing space, I would expect that this net loss will continue to trend in the right direction over the coming years.The deal allows developers to have access to a new array of advertisers, maximizing the monetization of their games. This partnership will make Unity's game developers happier and more willing to work on Unity, likely resulting in higher retention of its developers.Although Unity is more expensive than both Upstart and DigitalOcean, it is still a much better potential investment than cryptocurrency. Unity trades at 33 times sales, but deserves its high premium. It's a leader, with over 1.5 million active developers. Additionally, the company helped develop one of the world's most popular games, Among Us.With such a record of success, Unity could continue growing along with the gaming industry, which is one of the fastest-growing media categories, worth over $159 billion. Not only does Unity have a more robust business than many cryptocurrencies, but its potential is also extremely large. Ultimately this combination makes it a much safer choice than Dogecoin (CRYPTO:DOGE) or most other cryptos in my opinion.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":334,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"defaultTab":"followers","isTTM":true}
