The last economic report for the week dropped in on Fri, 14 Mar 2025. According to the University of Michigan’s latest consumer survey, Americans are getting more and more concerned about Trump's escalating and haphazard trade war. As a result, the US Consumer Sentiment fell to a more than 2-year low and long-term inflation expectations jumped by the most since 1993. (see below) Consumer sentiment fell -11% in March 2025, to a preliminary reading of 57.9, down from February’s 64.7 and reaching its lowest level since November 2022. That’s a really sharp retreat from December 2024’s, shortly after US presidential election, when sentiment rose to its highest level of “74” in months.
