Why NVIDIA's 3-new chips so powerful?
As the biggest "shovel seller" in the AI era and the biggest winner in the US stock market in 2023, $NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$ once again triggered a frenzy in the capital market overnight, with its stock price soaring by 6% to a historic high.
Nvidia launched the GeForce RTX 40 Super series graphics cards on Monday, claiming that they can inject powerful AI-driven performance into gaming and creative work, making it the ultimate way to experience AI on personal computers (PCs).
Supporting PC, is the Super series leading the AI PC race?
Nvidia stated that the Super series graphics cards allow users to better utilize artificial intelligence on PCs without relying on remote services accessed through the internet.
The concept behind AI PCs is that consumers and enterprise users can access AI applications generated from their own devices, preventing their personal data from being uploaded to the cloud or used to train AI models, ensuring data and information security.
Nvidia also claimed that the company is in a leading position in the AI PC competition, and its graphics cards are the best engines driving new laptops and desktop computers.
In fact, before Nvidia, Lenovo had already launched two AI PC products. Analysts generally believe that 2024 is expected to be the year of AI PC popularization.
After the pandemic, PC shipments sharply declined, bringing heavy inventory pressure to manufacturers and component suppliers, resulting in a sluggish market growth. Analysts believe that AI is expected to drive a large number of PC replacement demands, leading the PC industry into a new growth cycle.
According to Qunzhi Consulting, it is estimated that the shipment of AI PCs will reach 13 million units in 2024, with a market penetration rate of 7%, approaching 30% in 2025, and exceeding 50% in 2026.
Higher performance with faster speed
Nvidia introduced that the Super series includes three new products: GeForce RTX 4080 Super, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super, and GeForce RTX 4070 Super.
It is reported that these three graphics cards are equipped with dedicated Tensor cores, surpassing their predecessors not only in performance but also possessing the superpower of Nvidia's advanced ray tracing and AI technology platform RTX, which can enhance gaming, applications, and AI task performance.
GeForce RTX 4080 Super is claimed to provide support for fully ray-traced games at 4K resolution, with a speed 1.4 times faster than RTX3080Ti, even without activating DLSS (AI rendering) mode. With DLSS 3 enabled, the speed of GeForce RTX 4080 Super is twice that of RTX 3080 Ti.
GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER is optimized for 1440p and 4K resolutions, with a speed 1.6 times faster than RTX 3070 Ti, and with DLSS 3 enabled, its speed can increase by up to 2.5 times.
In addition, it is reported that GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER has increased its core frequency by 20% compared to similar series products, and its performance exceeds.When DLSS 3 is enabled, the GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER is 1.5 times faster than the RTX 3090,
A More Cost-effective Core
It's worth noting that despite the Super series having more powerful performance, the prices have not increased significantly as a result.
The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super will be released on January 24th with a starting price of $799 (¥6499 RMB); the GeForce RTX 4080 Super will be released on January 31st with a starting price of $999 ; in addition, the RTX 4070 Super will be released on January 17th with a retail price of $599.
The low-price chip market has long been dominated by AMD, but with the introduction of the Super series by NVIDIA, users can now obtain higher performance at the same low prices. Furthermore, compared to the "reduced quantity without reduced price" RTX 4090D, NVIDIA's newly released RTX 40 Super series appears to be more cost-effective.
