S&P 500, Dow Jones Industrial Average and Nasdaq Composite All Rise


Stocks closed higher Monday as investors awaited some key companies' quarterly earnings and fresh reads on the Federal Reserve's interest-rate stance.

The  $NASDAQ(.IXIC)$   climbed 192.92 points (1.2%) to a 16,349.25 close, while the $S&P 500(.SPX)$   added 52.95 ticks (0.1%) to 5,180.74.

Meanwhile, the $DJIA(.DJI)$   gained 176.26 points (0.5%) to 38,851.94.


Among stocks of note:

-- $Palantir Technologies Inc.(PLTR)$   climbed 8% after the close. The firm reported higher sales than analysts expected, at $634.3 million, and a Non-GAAP EPS that met expectations at $0.08. Still, the firm gave guidance that disappointed investors toward a selloff drop shortly after the announcement. 

According to 14 analysts compiled by yahoo finance, the market expects earnings of $0.08 per share, on sales revenue of $625.43M. The firm boosted its full year revenue to $2.68B to $2.69B, around the $2.68B expected, and sees Q3 Revenue $649M-$653M vs. the $653.25M expected.

-- $Micron Technology (MU.US)$ rose 4.7% to $120.13 after Baird raised its rating and price target for the stock.

-- $Super Micro Computer (SMCI.US)$ climbed 6.1% to $830.35.

--$Tyson Foods (TSN.US)$ was on the other end of the spectrum, down 5.8% to $58.50 after its Monday earnings release projected muted sales for Q3 and Q4.
