Computex 2024| Intel joins the chip war to challenge Nvidia and AMD

Top global processor suppliers $NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$ ,$Advanced Micro Devices(AMD)$ , and $Intel(INTC)$ are unveiling their AI chips.

Nvidia, AMD, and Intel GPU battle

Intel's Latest Release:

Following NVIDIA and AMD's AI chip launches on June 3rd and 4th, respectively, Intel also unveiled its new AI chip on June 4th, keeping pace with its competitors.

At Computex 2024, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger announced the Intel Xeon 6 processor with efficient cores, pricing for the Gaudi 2 and Gaudi 3 AI accelerator packages, and the groundbreaking Lunar Lake client processor architecture. The Lunar Lake, set to launch in Q3 2024, will support over 80 new AI PC designs from more than 20 partners.

COMPUTEX TAIPEI

Intel's Xeon 6 Processor:

The Xeon 6 with E-cores, codenamed Sierra Forest, offers significant performance gains in media transcoding workloads. The P-core version, expected in Q3 2024, will target the most demanding workloads, including AI and high-performance computing.

NVIDIA and AMD's AI Innovations:

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang introduced the new "Rubin" AI platform, while AMD revealed the 3rd generation AMD Ryzen AI 300 series mobile processors and the Ryzen 9000 series for notebooks and desktops, with a preview of the 5th generation EPYC server processor.

Market Reaction:

NVIDIA's stock has surged after the launch, while AMD's stock dipped. Intel's stock rose slightly in pre-market trading post-launch.

Beneficiaries of AI Chip Releases:

Beyond the three chip giants, $Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing(TSM)$ stands to gain from manufacturing the cutting-edge chips for these companies.
