According to Bloomberg, In the landmark partnership agreement between $Apple(AAPL)$ and OpenAI, Apple will not make any direct cash payments to OpenAI, but will instead provide equal or greater value to the company by promoting OpenAI's brand and technology on hundreds of millions of devices.
For example, by promoting and distributing ChatGPT on hundreds of millions of Apple devices and integrating the ChatGPT AI assistant into iPhone, iPad and Mac devices.
Apple sees this as equal to or more valuable to OpenAI's brand and technology exposure than a direct cash payment would be to OpenAI.
Meanwhile, both sides are tight-lipped about the financial details of the partnership.
Some people summarize: this way of selling resources is equivalent to treating our users as "commodities".
